Hello #medsky! Happy to find a friendlier and more sane place to talk about science.

I am a geriatric psychiatrist who focuses on caring for the mental health of people with #dementia in nursing homes.

My lab works to develop technology to improve health and behaviour monitoring in nursing homes.

In just one week, the company has gone from being Gen Z’s preferred social media platform to a tool for spying on Americans and the suppression of information.

This kind of smart, walkable, mixed-use urbanism is illegal to build in most American cities.

Winter people are hardy people. Don't mess with us.

A whole blog filled with spurious correlations. I love this.

One thing I found deeply moving about resistance in the Twin Cities was the universalism of loving your neighbor, the philosophy driving the opposition to the ICE/BP invasion. I couldn't help but notice the contrast with the blood and soil-ism of Miller and Vance. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Incredible results today.

The same mRNA technology used in COVID vaccines is now cutting melanoma recurrence and death nearly in HALF by training the immune system to recognize cancer.

This is why we fund science and support mRNA technology.
Palantir runs the tech for linking huge amounts of NHS data, and now for the UK Ministry of Defence too

I gave up on Adobe when it went subscription. I just wanted to buy it and use it, not have to pay for it every month forever with ever increasing costs, justified by increasingly useless features (AI).

I've noticed my papers being cited more in fairly random contexts.

For example, my paper that has privacy in the title being used to support a statement like "Privacy is important" in an unrelated paper

Is this AI doing the referencing?

I've been visiting my elderly parents and have received a toxic dose of normie local and cable news at max volume for 24 hours and it's just the most feckless, embarrassing, dystopian cack

So weird that he thinks she can just give him the Nobel. If an olympic medalist says, no, you are the winner, does that make me an olympian? If I buy an old war medal, does that make me a war hero?
In case you've seen the story about “grok now only generates images for paid users”, it's untrue. Apparently everyone just reported it because… it was what grok told them 🤦🏼

It's amazing how many corporations -- much less private individuals -- still believe they need to stay active on the white nationalist forum and CSAM generator.

Sure, you may have succeeded in blocking yourself from seeing these things there, but all of us still see you there alongside those things
so x dot com’s ai generated CSAM and they admitted it may violate US law and … i haven’t seen in anyone in power say much at all or call to stop using the platform

I am horrified by this.

Not that I love hospitalizations for LTC residents, but intervening to prevent access to needed emergency care is wrong.

And it makes it harder to build trust with families to have discussions around care directives.
