I think it’s important to understand that accommodations are typically limited to extra time on an exam, taking the exam in a controlled private setting, or using a word processor instead of handwriting—it’s not an advantage.

The thinking below just harms students with disabilities.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

Paul Dano is amazing in THE FABELMANS, truly tragic and sad but full of love for his family.

Also, Dano is INCREDIBLE in THERE WILL BE BLOOD. He does exactly what the role requires and goes beyond.

Finally, Dano brings real relatability and empathy in SWISS ARMY MAN.

Paul Dano - great actor.

It always gets on my nerves when people say the “Old Testament” is so violent and disturbing, compared to the supposedly much more peaceful and loving “New Testament.”

I think we have to look at them as different genres. One is a warts-and-all family memoir, while the other is more like self-help.

I'm not going to pretend these are bad films (I don't even mind the Woody film) but this doesn't exactly scream "voracious cinephile with a near-encyclopedic knowledge of genre and world cinema" so much as "dad who watches a lot of TNT."

Tarantino loves the sound of his own voice. He doesn't like to be challenged. He likes stacked-deck conversations with acolytes. Every interview is a sermon. He knows shit, but he's also incredibly full of shit. And, worst of all, mean.

I will never understand why an actual movie director chooses to spend his time and energy behaving like a fifth-tier shitposter. (Also, this is a Hall of Fame bad take.)

Post production is extremely complex -- every final version of a show is comprised of multiple elements. VFX, sound, color. If you're doing a massive transfer/remaster like this, PAY PEOPLE who understand how post works to supervise. You can't just cut and paste.
HBOMax has started showing a 'remastered' 4K Mad Men and they’ve messed things up so during Roger’s oyster vomit scene you can now see the crew men with the vomit hose on the right

I promise this is not my anti-WBD bias -- for me, it's a bigger issue than who's to blame. It's that there's no QC anymore. Hire someone to watch things before you just shove them onto your platform!

Louis C.K. is not a *cancelled performer.* He’s a sexual predator who blacklisted dozens of talented artists & women if they didn’t submit to his sexual harassment & assaults. He’s notorious in the industry for his despicable behavior & this redemptive framing sucks @newyorker.com
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?
