One of the saddest stories in rock.
“Syd liked to laugh. I remember him that way.”

Wreckmeister Harmonies and Sátántangó are two of the best films ever made. Sátántangó is 439 minutes long. None of them are wasted. RIP
RIP to Béla Tarr, an artist who made beautiful (often haunting) films on his own terms and took no prisoners when talking about them. Truly one of the best to ever do it.

Can't tell you how much it means to me for WITHOUT CONSENT to be written up in the New Yorker as part of a larger consideration of consent in general. And I will gladly be known as "taking a true-crime approach to intellectual history"!
How Consent Can—and Cannot—Help Us Have Better Sex
The idea is legally vital, but ultimately unsatisfying. Is there another way forward?

Sunday is a big day here for "It won't work" and "Actually" and "You're so naive" and "Like there'll even BE elections." I get the power of depression and despair, but I'm still gonna block everyone who comes at me with that, because in a contest between your need to vent and my self-care, I win.

Sorry but yes we should still read Adorno. No one has to be an Adornian, or follow any specific author as a single authority. But we must continue reading the critical tradition during this time of conservative restoration.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Why wasn't congressional authorization necessary?

RUBIO: It wasn't necessary because this was not an invasion. We didn't occupy a country. This was an arrest operation.

Unconstitutional force. Civilians dead. Congress bypassed. Oil interests front and center.

We’ve seen this movie before and it ends in blood. But we don’t have to do it again.
