Lucasfilm Ltd. has a long history of incredibly creative & beautiful holiday cards. My favorite is this classic from the king Ralph McQuarrie commissioned for the company’s 1979 change of address back to its newly renovated offices in North Hollywood.

30 years ago today CUTTHROAT ISLAND was released in theaters. Despite its reputation as being the movie that killed Carolco I have always enjoyed Renny Harlin’s lavish pirate epic. From Geena Davis’ cheeky performance to the elaborate set design and the beautiful John Debney score.

30 years ago today SUDDEN DEATH was released in theaters. It quickly became my favorite film from Van Damme as well as director Peter Hyams and it’s “Die Hard at a Hockey Game” hook is one of the most underrated variations of the John McClane blueprint.
