This week, my illegally detained neighbor -- an asylum seeker with a wife and two children -- will have a hearing that gives him a chance to get home to his family and get his asylum case back on track. But he will need to pay a $6000 bond.

It didn't take very long for it to seem entirely reasonable for a mom to hide her identity while speaking to reporters in order to protect her child's school from being targeted by the secret police.

More great video from yesterday’s unity ride in Minneapolis, from Recovery Bike Shop.

This one has a clip of our city council president, @elliottpayne.org , corking an intersection to keep other riders safe.

Minneapolis is a special place.

THIS. ⬇️

It is both impressive & *absurd* how much money average middle class Minnesotans are scrounging together to pay our neighbors’ rent so they aren’t made homeless during a federal occupation (in winter) where they can’t work & need to shelter in place to stay safe from abduction and abuse.
I think if regular folks are donating hundreds of dollars to mutual aid in the span of a few weeks, then landlords could maybe have a heart and not evict vulnerable families in this time of extraordinary crisis

We know that 4more children from Liam's school are still in ICE custody in TX. But we still do not know how many children from MN in total have been detained by ICE.

For obvious reasons I am thinking about a lot lately about how Krispy Kreme was giving donuts to people who got vaccinated and when people mocked them for it their response was basically "We use what we have to encourage it. What we have is donuts, so we are using those"

We use what we have.

So much coverage focuses on the guns and tear gas and filmed confrontations and it IS all that. I don't want to downplay anything.

But it's also NOT JUST that, you know? The fear and violence and community action is also present in the most placid-seeming corners of town. As in any occupation.

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

It is 6 p.m. in Minnesota & you should have had or soon be having an evening meal or at least a good snack.

Drink plenty of water!

Take any meds you need to take or otherwise administer the drugs.

Do those things you need to do to take care of you.

Hang in there.

Fuck ICE (ope, said it twice).

I’ve been trying to tell my non-lawyer friends just how unprecedented some of the things these federal judges are doing actually are - this order left me speechless.

In a scathing order, a judge orders the release of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos and his father.

“Philadelphia, September 17, 1787: "Well, Dr. Franklin, what do we have?" "A republic, if you can keep it."
With a judicial finger in the constitutional dike, It is so ORDERED.”
