I couldn't fall asleep the night of Nov 7th because I was so upset at the election results. So I sat up in bed and wrote the following on another social media space. (There will be expletives.)🧵

“The dominant faction within the Democratic Party is trying to stop ICE abolition instead of championing it. Every single official, consultant or journalist who joins onto that effort is a moral accomplice of Jonathan Ross, Greg Bovino, Kristy Noem and Donald Trump”

I love recommendations in this column on how to build a radically truthful news outlet. The truth is, ethical journalists are required to resist passing along lies and obfuscations, even when lots of people believe them. ESPECIALLY when lots of people believe them. READ: https://loom.ly/rF9t36k

this is the most ridiculous thing

we could make life enormously less stressful and awful by simply Not Doing Any Of This

call off the ICE goons, rescind the tariffs, stop threatening Greenland

just stop it! problem(s) solved!
every single goddam crisis happening right now is self imposed

“Paid agitators” is a line that goes wayyyy back, to at least the 1930s if not before

Conservative papers stated that many of the Bonus Marchers of 1932 were paid to be fomenting unrest

The recycled bullshit is terribly translucent - save for those who choose to believe the nonsense
Rep. Byron Donalds: "These agitators -- who by the way are paid, folks. America, they are paid to do this kind of mess."

“No recalibrated or sanitized version of the assault that Trump and Stephen Miller are waging on American cities right now, most prominently Minneapolis, is available to them or anyone else. That’s because it’s a campaign of deliberate terror: The policy is the terror, and the terror is the policy.”
Trump is privately worried about the "optics" of ICE raids and his advisers are looking for ways to soften them, Axios reports. I'm calling bullshit: The terror and violence cannot be hived off from the broader policy agenda. They are 100% intrinsic to it.

Trump’s Own Advisers Suddenly Unnerved as ICE Raids Take Horrific Turn
So the president doesn’t like the “optics” of what ICE is doing. But there’s no such thing as sanitized, popular mass deportations—and this is by design.

“Just following orders” didn’t work at Nuremberg, and it won’t work now. Fuck this guy.
In an interview with @whitneycwimbish.bsky.social, Blas Nuñez-Neto wouldn't tell us his clients, but did say we should remember that ICE agents are people too. (Can't believe this quote below)

We're not talking enough about how much the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department run by Dawanna Witt is collaborating with ICE. Arresting at Whipple, working with ICE to arrest legal observers, failing to trespass ICE when not welcome in hospitals and schools. Shame.

This, right here 🎯💯. I’ve been trying to communicate this to people, as a native 🇨🇦, for a year now. Again, the fact that this wasn’t immediately seen as a presidency-ending, beyond-the-pale thing for all 535 Congresspeople, the media, & the public is deeply ugly & shameful for us as a country.
Good rule of thumb for friends is to imagine if China decided to start loudly discussing taking Hawaii, and how quickly you'd see red, and how unfunny you'd find it, and how belligerent your reaction to it would be. That is how Europeans and Canadians feel about this rhetoric from the US.

Schumer and Jeffries must step down from leadership if we have any hope to reform this country.

They are all part of the same club. They work for the corporate donors and all they want is restoration.

They won't fight b/c it's not in their interest.

It's so clear and yet still...

it's 100% what they expected. Conservatives think of Minneapolis' white people as scared of our neighbors, especially the immigrants. But that's because *they're* scared, not because we are. They cannot imagine being in a city with such diversity and enjoying it.
To those saying “nuh-uh, ICE picked Minneapolis because they WANTED the city to rise up as one against them” -

no, pretty sure they expected a scattering of blue-haired protesters they could easily crush for content + tacit support from other whites, not the organized total resistance they got.
ICE and MAGA really did bet the farm on all of Minneapolis’s white people going “oh yes, please take away our disgusting, evil non-white-foreigner neighbors, oh thank you so much.”

it’s beautiful that they’ve been proven incredibly wrong about that - may the rest of the country do the same.

Schumer is a liability and must be replaced
The incredibly lukewarm Democratic response on Greenland is being noticed in Europe, incidentally.

Chuck Schumer not finding a stronger word than “quixotic” for Trump’s plan to seize Greenland has been name checked to me more than once.
But Americans who want to save the alliance with Europe must have no illusions about how bad a condition this transatlantic partnership is in.
