It was pretty much exactly how Ken Martin treated Minneapolis when he was DFL state party chair, so they're used to it.

When you start to think about the Democratic Party at the national and state level in many places as the uvalde Police Department i.e. unwilling to do the right thing because they’re scared. It makes a lot more sense as to why we are where we are right now.

CONFIRMED:

Earlier today Don Lemon reported a protest at Cities Church in St. Paul, MN where they said pastor David Easterwood is Acting Director of the ICE Field Office.

They were 100% right.

Opinion: "[T]oo many of our elites never really believed in liberal values like equality, pluralism and the dignity of every person, so when it came time to stand up, they were more than willing to cave to save their fancy lives.

So yeah, it’s on us.

Which is the very thing that gives me hope."
Commentary from Reformer editor J. Patrick Coolican:

This is not a moment for "diplomacy."

It’s actually a moment for confrontation, both loud and quiet. And, for saying: No more. Take the mask off. Honor the Constitution. Better yet, leave.
With a whistle and roar or quiet resistance, now is the time to defy the federal beast, Minnesota • Minnesota Reformer

This is the core function of news media
For non-German speakers:

“Dear media, I can’t stand the headline "No agreement between the US and Denmark” any longer. If an armed man storms a bank, you don't run the headline: "Robber and cashier can't reach an agreement on money transfer." Stop framing imperial aggression as normal diplomacy.”

Correct, and I would say this is down to a person. They’re snatching people at work, off manufacturing lines, off of rooftops, in kitchens, at daycares. It would be difficult to do this in a more alienating and unpopular way if you tried (which is probably the point).
Not an exaggeration at all to say that the feeling in Minneapolis is that the entire metro area is being treated as occupied territory by federal agents. Impossible to overstate how overwhelmingly people here do not like it. This does not feel sustainable.

BCA should still lead its own investigation anyway. It will be more difficult now, but it's even more clear now that FBI cannot be trusted to lead this investigation.
The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says they've been informed by the FBI that US DOJ has said FBI will solely lead the investigation into Renee Nicole Good's killing by a federal officer. State investigators no longer have access to "case materials, scene evidence/investigative interviews"

2025 was a tough year. But a new, beautiful Minnesota snowfall brings a moment of renewal and hope. We must stand our ground, but also find common ground when we can. Happy New Year—let’s get to work.

This is a good (albeit) sobering thread and explains why lies are seen as a sign of strength by Trump and the GOP.
Epstein redactions aren't believable, and they are valuable to fascists specifically because they aren't believable.

Fascists prefer lies to truth. Believing in a lie is preferable to believing a truth, if what you want is to dominate.

Believing lies dominates truth. So they believe lies.

This is a budget conversation, not a police conversation, and the council has the right to debate and set the budget. For the mayoral departments to abuse the budget is the question.
Palmisano frustrated at having to hear so many times that MPD overspent their budget by $20 million, says the council will learn more about that on Monday and that her colleagues are "bashing police over the head."

Chughtai: "Nobody's bashing police over the head. Literally nobody is."
