I suspect she got into office for the precise purpose of attending to the whims and comforts of homeowners from Kenwood, Isles and Cedar-Dean neighborhoods---and making sure the city remains hard-wired for their needs above anyone else's. It's her mission. She'll love it.
💯plus Facebook + Strib + Hill and Press or whatever the Kenwood paper is called + Minneapolis Times + All of Minneapolis fear-mongering emails. People over here are in a local version of the Fox News bubble.
But Evan!! The other three candidates were all various hues of Blackity-Black!!!And at least two were more progressive than Frey. I suspect this was the unspoken (and perhaps subconscious) logic in a lot of Ward 13.
Pretty sure AmyK was one of the behind-the-scenes organizer for Senate Democrats Caving Yet Again. She’s also savvy enough to keep her name off the vote tally.
Democrats Kill Hope (Again). Oliver Willis lays it out. This also describes Amy Klobuchar to a T.

Chuck Schumer Reboots The Montreal Screwjob

#2: I'd bet good money that, behind the scenes, Amy Klobuchar was orchestrating & approving this cave-in. Like Chuck Schumer, she didn't vote for it, (They only needed 8 votes and had them.) but she was part of the group that had been planning this for a few weeks. Amy acts centrist; votes rightward
Note to fellow Boomers in Minneapolis upset about the Senate Democrats caving yet again:

#1: This is precisely why The Youngs have embraced the DSA and why you should the same. Or at least quit demonizing young Dems who are looking for big change. The DSA caucus is the future.

# 2....
Josh Marshall with a slightly more optimistic (?) or certainly long-term take on Team Cave’s Big Win. (He hates the Dem Cave.I find Josh to be grounded and sane, so that's why I read Talking Points Memo.)

Nobody in American politics hates their own voters more than the Democratic Party

How long till we learn American, United & Delta worked the phones on Senate Dems?
Love love love my senator from Minnesota, @smith.senate.gov .
I will not support this bill that completely fails to help Americans afford their health care.

Trump and R’s have more than doubled Americans’ health care premiums, and for 40 days they have refused to lift a finger to do a thing about it. In fact, they’ve made it worse by taking food from kids.
Attention: @klobuchar.senate.gov and @smith.senate.gov
Don't do the GOP's dirty work for them. GOP has the voted. Let them end the filibuster; call back Congress and let the GOP take 💯 of the credit for their policies.

I mean, sheesh, read the room. Don't make a deal.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.
Re: #3: city is actually really racist, it’s just expressed more covertly and with “niceness” which makes it even yuckier.
100 percent Swedish and Danish stock here. Can concur! My God, this sounds hellish. I can also feel the revulsion of the ancestors.
Narrator: Everything was in service to her personal ambitions, now and forever, world without end. Amen. The gospel according to Amy K.
Love, love, love this song. Always makes me get up and dance.
I also want to invite anyone who's interested in working to organize these voters---join us at Southwest Action for Equity, @https://bsky.app/profile/swaempls.bsky.social. And the under new progressive leadership Minneapolis Area DFL Senior Caucus is doing good work too.
I agree with Betsy's analysis of appealing to White voters in SW Minneapolis in order to win. But after eight years of Frey/All of Minneapolis fear-mongering, DSA-Red Baiting, older White people in Ward 13 act a lot like Fox News viewers---really primed for Rage and Fear bait.
This is why---after 35+ years of subscribing--I no longer subscribe or read the NYT. If I occasionally want to read something, I copy the link and read it at Removepaywall.com. It's funny--the NYT was a morning ritual and now I don't miss it at all.

Narrator: The answer was both. Plus a dollop of anti-Blackness that got even more freaked out at Fateh being Extra Black, aided by all Frey's smears about cheating and fraud. None of it is pretty, is it?
It is all about race and class. Middle-class and affluent White boomers--who always talk about how they voted for Obama and their uncle "marched with MLK" are the big issue. Frey promotes division on race, class and generation and they eat it up. (Speaking as affluent White Boomer here.)🤮
