I’ve harped on it before but Mando has been out for 7 years and they have never shown a single new Rebel fighter. Nothing but OT X-Wings. Now it’s coming to cinemas and all they can manage is OT X-Wings. Just creatively bankrupt. Washed. Lucas would find this shameful

“Everything I offer of value is present in this boring clip” is not something I would eagerly admit.

“I hate to say it. It’s likely over for us.”

Imagine if instead of the Mandalorians shambolic non marketing campaign what the effect of a teaser trailer of The Hunt for Ben Solo could have been - no one having *any idea* what it even was until they revealed Adam Driver - shit would’ve created a solid year of speculation hype off that alone

On top of everything else it’s so weird how our cops all simultaneously decided little fash mustaches are cool

Theyre doing the TFA shit all over again. All the hits are here! Just an endless collection of nostalgia pandering red flag phrases in this paragraph. It’s remarkable how efficient it is at putting me off.

You’ve got to love how actress Kelly Marie Tran, one of the most harassed people ever to be on the internet, still leapt up to defend trans people in a recent interview. No one would blame her for keeping her head down and shutting up forever but she will NOT and I admire her for it ⭐
Star Wars actor says ‘trans rights are human rights’ when asked about Harry Potter
Kelly Marie Tran said ‘trans rights are human rights’ when the topic of JK Rowling's Harry Potter series was mentioned in an interview.

"good superheroes don't kill people" is one of the most impressively accidentally revealing statements one can make about one's own personal moral arrogance in the act of mistaking it for an axiomatic truth and halfway to being as much a CIA-endorsed anticommunist psyop as "show don't tell". why not

Unfortunately, this is the part where I remind people that Black 10th graders get beat up by cops every day.

This is the part where I remind people about modern civil asset forfeiture, where US police steal more value from people (mostly Black) than every form of theft other than wage theft.
It is in no way “law enforcement” to beat up an American 10th grader and steal and sell his possessions.
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

Bsky is awesome for this cos it’s such a nerd popculture c. 2010 bubble. Under every “no cultural impact” post you’ll find the same three idiot post genres: “dances with wolves” “I haven’t seen it and never will!” And “blue cat people”
The Avatar cultural impact debate is kinda pointless because it seems to usually come from people not willing to admit that maybe people outside their particular online bubble exist. This happens with people expressing confusion that fans of the Star Wars prequels exist too. It's really nothing deep

So many people are so ideologically captured - mentally - that when presented with naked aggression - that they preemptively libwash aggression by the most nakedly fascist US administration yet. They don’t even need the media to do it for them (which the media has been doing for months!)
"I'm no fan of Maduro but..." why do people in the US feel a need to preface things this way in 20-fucking-26

And I do dearly wish more people would flat out make this argument. Because then I could say they are "wrong," have "bad taste" & are "perpetually trapped in 2010" & that would be that.
The debate about Avatar "having no cultural impact" is kind of a smokescreen for the actual argument which is that Avatar is "boring" and "bad" and "has terrible characters, worldbuilding, plotting and dialogue"

As with Lucas, a brand of nerd absolutely loathes Avatar because it’s a story from an artist with a singular vision who doesn’t act like he owes some annoying ass fandom a damn thing. Hugely irritating for people raised on over a decade of hacks saying “we made this [piece of shit] For the Fans”

A good thing about getting older is not having to exclusively listen to tedious aging millennials(ie my cohort) talk endlessly about their culturally irrelevant, obscure Nickolodeon cartoon from their teens whenever Avatar comes up
Avatar the last airbender had no cultural impact but yall ain’t ready for that conversation

I admit I didn’t see that I still think you’re being ridiculously chill and passive about an insane accusation. That sort of accusation is intensely abusive in and of itself and should be interrogated immediately, not treated as if it’s just some mere dispute to be resolved at convenience
