This type of lighting needs to come back badly. It’s almost insane how much it helped set the mood for things like Batman TAS, Akira, NGE, Japans Cyberpunk Anime scene in the 80s/90s, Heavy Metal.

The list is impossible to finish.
This style of light doesn't really appear in animation anymore. You know it when you see it -- it's bright, hot and almost dangerous.

Our new issue explores the tricks behind it, and how one artist has revived the look for the digital age: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/dangerous-...

Hi, I was in a car wreck last night and now every time I sit down it gets more painful to stand up. I think I really need to get checked out, as well as pay some bills like my car payment and therapy. There's a lot going on but I really don't want to put these things off. Please help if you can
I'm a trans woman suffering severe PTSD and have been looking for work all year to no avail with absolutely zero help from anyone in my family. Any help towards my monthly bills or even just reposts are massively appreciated.

It's so crazy the vote blue no matter who people are already "resigning" themselves to Gavin Newsom like they don't have two years to find a better candidate almost like they just want a candidate that is anti-trans, pro-Israel, and wants to kill the homeless anyway

I don’t think that’s true actually
I think most (not all) of the "I will never vote for Gavin Newsom" people are communists who are mad that Americans don't like communism and want to destroy the Democratic party out of revenge. They don't care how many elections Republicans win or how many trans people die as long as the Dems fall.

In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women."

Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration.

It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Our latest.
European Parliament Votes Overwhelmingly For "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women"
The resolution, though nonbinding, is a significant shot at those who seek to erode transgender rights on the continent.

Someone recently uploaded the complete George Lucas’ Super Live Adventure.

And what, you ask, is that? It was a short-lived arena show that combined Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Willow, American Graffiti, and everyone’s favorite Lucas film: Tucker: The Man and His Dreams.

It’s as nuts as it sounds.

I adore the video of the woman allegedly torching a future concentration camp, but as a blue collar worker, I must implore you all to wear protective footwear if you might be around solvents or open flame. Safety first.

This woman is a hero, but for anyone else that’s wanting to follow in her footsteps: remember to mask your face and hair, do it at night when there’s less people liable to record you, and dont bring a cellphone

I wish Letterboxd would show the exact date you watchlisted something. Oftentimes I find myself forgetting about a certain film, then I rediscover it, and then I find out I already added it to my watchlist. An exact date would be helpful in tracing back how I first found out about the film

🧵🧵
idthink it's even subtext or a gotcha to say that '80s/'90s horror focuses a great deal of its structure around how society hates children and sees them not as so-called "miniature adults" but as property to be produced, otherwise feared when they can't be itemized out, whether traumatized or not.
🟠it's like how Nightmare on Elm Street is ACTUALLY about teen suicide & a key part of that is that Nancy's mom fucking hates her daughter? like she's this abusive drunk who loathes the things she felt she had to do to protect her daughter but loathes her daughter's judgment of those actions far more

🧵
🟠I wanta preface this by saying I think Stranger Things sucks, I've been thinking a lot about ACTUAL kid horror movies from the '80s and what they're ABOUT in a larger context, which is the fundamental neglect at the center of the '80s American Family

Nazis loved shallow escapism far more than direct propaganda (the vast majority of films made under the nazis were fluffy “mountain films” and subtextually propagandistic historical epics), which makes the popularity of generic “hopepunk” a lot less punk and more like manufactured consent

Liberal government staffers who were deluded by The West Wing should have been watching the other late '90s to mid-2000s political drama with Jimmy Smits
