People who keep saying THE PHANTOM MENACE sucks will go to such insane lengths without analyzing further to the point where they've gotten to complaining about a simple shot of Liam Neeson swimming.

i am surprised disney is not running a counter narrative in the trades, but perhaps this is the perk of building a package around mr. movies himself steven soderbergh. run attacks on him and you'll look like even more of a laughing stock.

It's not enough that leftists who refused to be complicit in a genocide are to blame for Trump's second win -- it's also because people thought Ant-Man 3 was a bad movie

That's the wild part is I don't think anyone has actually blamed this on Jon Favreau. Nobody reasonable thinks Disney and LucasFilm were somehow in an either/or situation that Jon Favreau somehow influenced? We just think the one that was actually greenlit looks like shit

It was a TV season that got turned into a movie at the last moment by Bob Iger. The first trailer released makes it visually indistinguishable from the streaming show. It is for all intents and purposes a TV movie that happens to get a theatrical release. It’s a slight because we have standards.
I promise y'all don't sound smart for calling a film made by a film director with film crew with a film budget with film level sets a "TV movie."

How is Jon Favreau getting a movie a slight against Steven Soderbergh? Can y'all be normal or are y'all gonna send people death threats to people?
Oops too late. Why is wanting Steven Soderbergh movies instead of tv movies meant to be unacceptable behaviour?

Remember when they said Mandalorian & Grogu - the worst movie name in the history of franchise filmmaking - was just a placeholder

Like someone just said at the other place - they don’t actually understand that disney+ gruel doesn't hold the same weight as a real movie. There’s very little hype for 2 more hours of a streaming show, sorry! Most obvious thing in the world but it escapes them
I still can’t believe “Disney turned down Adam Driver and Steven Soderbergh’s Ben Solo movie but we’re getting Jeremy Allen White playing a Hutt in the Grogu movie” is real life and not A JOKE

At some point Disney is gonna emit some sewage to indemnify themselves. But they’re very bad at it. Prepare for some Snow White level shit

Not enough focus on the commentary in this article that the “narrative continuity” reason Iger and Bergman gave is seen as bullshit - because of course it is.

This is internal Disney succession politics - some sort of power play to make Bergman look like a big man. Insane shit. But it’s backfired
October 24, 2025 at 11:11 PM
No offence to the “why not both” crowd but remember when the Mando trailer came out and all the disocurse was about how it looked like shit? More positive online buzz about a cancelled project is levels of Disney incompetence previously deemed only theoretical by top scientists

It is impossible to overstate how terrible Disney’s decision making is. You have an Adam Driver / Soderbergh project being handed to you and you give some dork ass reason to turn it down lol - and your last movie you brought back a guy who exploded
Adam Driver reveals he was developing a new Star Wars movie ‘THE HUNT FOR BEN SOLO’ with Steven Soderbergh

• Was set after ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

• Lucasfilm loved the idea but Disney said no — “They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive”

The studios stopped hiring Drew Struzan for their movie posters. Guillermo Del Toro famously wanted him for the second Hellboy movie and the studio rejected it so GDT paid him out of his own pocket, as the legend goes.
RIP to a generational talent.

My wife was half watching Trek 2009 today and while I’m milling around getting dinner ready I was reminded every time I walked past the tv that it’s one of the most moronic stories ever told. Insane that this thing is what got JJ Star Wars. Episode 7 didn’t stand a chance

In Superman Lex kills a guy - Malik Ali - in front of Supes. Ali’s near final words? He’s honored Superman ate falafel from his food cart. Screenwriting that feels like a shitpost. The movie is full of this woeful dross

Having now watched Gunn’s Superman it’s insane anyone thought this movie was gonna make “a gazillion dollars”. Mediocre, ugly, overstuffed and tedious, it’s a miracle it made as much as it did. Heck everyone says it and it’s true - Thunderbolts was actually really good and way better than this POS
