For every year from 1994 to 2023, immigrants in the US paid more in taxes than they received in benefits from all levels of government. Check out the latest study from Cato’s David Bier.

Most reliable red flag for a certain kind of ostensibly sensible centrist-ish elite is when they dig in their heels insisting Charles Murray is some kind of serious thinker who shouldn't be shunned, rather than a plain old gutter racist substantially on par with David Duke.
Forgive me, Jesus, because I genuinely deeply enjoy how perpetually unhappy and desolate these losers are.

Congress should immediately hold hearings because a special government employee (SGE) should have no decision-making authority, can only work 130 days per year, must have an extraordinary capability not available in house, and I believe cannot have any direct reports. bsky.app/profile/cost...

You can look at the Epstein files and conclude that only bad people have billions of dollars, but I think it’s also possible that having billions of dollars cauterizes your humanity

Whenever I see trads use this image as some sort of automatic disparagement of liturgical reform, as OnePeterFive did just very recently, I see it as confirmation that they are the spiritual heirs of the religious leaders of Jesus' time who would keep the Kingdom of God under lock and key

And, and, and, and, and...... is it traditional?

something this picture makes me think about is that I think a lot of our discourse on this issue is warped by people perceiving teenagers primarily through Hollywood where they are played by people who are 30. when you see this picture your immediate response is "that is a child"

Now listen here Mr Pope,
Q: Pope Leo cited Matthew 25:35 to critique Donald Trump's mass deportation agenda. How would you respond to Pope Leo in scripture?

MIKE JOHNSON: Sovereign borders are biblical and right and just. It's not because we hate the people on the outside. It's because we love the people on the inside.

What's fascinating to me is how casually he admits that "Western Civilization" is just code for "white"

This was said on another thread yesterday; I do think immersion-breaking tokenism in historical fiction is very silly and counterproductive, but when it comes to fantasy/mythology, who cares?!

and their "Mary" is just as pissy and needy as Hera. That's probably why they have increasingly needed St Joseph as a new Hephaestus to help hold back *her* wrath for being disrespected

Their "saints" are basically Olympian gods, with God himself taking the mantle of Zeus - prone to anger, Mary acting as Hera and then you have some other saints as minor deities. It's basically a bizarre inculturation of the Greek mythological religion, with a moral system that's 2500 years behind.
