it’s also just not true that the old liturgical books reflected a good or bad mentality; there were a bunch of mentalities layered over one another across the centuries. it would have been very easy to add another layer or to partially obscure any that had started to become embarrassing.

Forgive me but I will not be able to take seriously an attempt to equate the liturgical value of Haugen, Haas, Schutte and Temple, with Merbecke, Wesley, Neale or Willan. This has GOT to be some bespoke meta-ironic bit. And I say this as someone who digs some St Louis Jesuits stuff for my commute
if you mean the lectionary, that was another massive improvement from before the council. as for music, I love the hymns from the 70s and 80s, and they beat whatever Anglican type stuff I presume you want them replaced with

What I have to tell you… is that I may have changed my mind… about the Latin Mass.
I feel now… like maybe… hearing the Gospel in a language I actually speak… isn't a concession to modernity.
