Doozy of a first post.

Meta's new policies targeting trans people, immigrants, and women are not going to hurt just us. These changes are pandering to the far right in the US and the EU. It's bad for everyone.

My article for @techpolicypress.bsky.social

Meta's Content Moderation Changes are Going to Have a Real World Impact. It's Not Going to be Good. | TechPolicy.Press
The changes announced Tuesday appear to cater specifically to the rise of far-right leaders and ideology, writes Dia Kayyali.

Bluesky suspended Sarah Kendzior today for no reason whatsoever. She just shared excerpts of her articles, which were as always incisive and not offensive at all. Hey @pfrazee.com this is super not OK. I know her- we've interacted a fair bit via chats and her work is essential.

Cheney is dead, but the horrible architecture he wrought is in Trump's hands.

If you are a technologist or you work in tech policy, I challenge you to commit to building movement relationships and fighting the structures that have enabled men like them.

Rough afternoon/early evening. I'm not sure how many ICE abductions in our area. Too many. Sending love to everyone impacted by this violence. Grateful to everyone who patrolled and documented. They're not done, and neither are we.

This is the piece I wanted to read tonight. You should too.

I wasn't 14 or a hijabi when 9/11 happened, but it was a foundational (and scary) moment, one I've been thinking about it a lot (related article for TPP coming soon). Thank you Heba for writing this one.
Friends— here it is. Updated & expanded thanks to the space afforded to me in the @therumpus.net & the guidance of the brilliant @roxanegay.bsky.social’s edits. The win centers Muslims humanity — but what does that mean in a country that rejects that?

Hey Democrats: Schumer wouldn't even endorse Mamdani or say who he voted for. Maybe, just maybe, stop letting him lead the Senate Dems?
Establishment Dems: “We just had a sweeping win proving people want us to fight for them and that we can beat the fascists.”
Also Establishment Dems: “Quick, back to capitulating!”

What an utterly spineless and embarrassing political party.

Getting new details on this now:

As the arrest unfolded, teachers pleaded with the agents telling them the teacher had a work permit. The agents went into multiple rooms looking for teachers while children were present. One teacher hid with a child in her care while the agents stormed the facility.

Just like most other things wrong in our world, the loneliness epidemic has its roots in capitalism. Thinking relationships should never have any discomfort and that always prioritizing yourself is "good boundaries" is capitalism.

Revolution has to be rooted in relationships, or we will lose.
