Hi everyone! I’ve unfortunately been diagnosed with a likely rib fracture from the hospital. Likely it occurred on Friday, August 8 during a protest where I was in the middle of asking for a PIO/supervisor.

As is clear in the video, I waited for a moment for a break in the line moving forward.

Grossly irresponsible of the Times to have this ludicrous credulous spin as the top story the morning after a president who rules by fiat proclaims a totally specious emergency to militarize the capital - an editorial insult to our intelligence and our democracy.

this is a great example of what happens when unserious, nihilistic people get in charge of actual institutions whose ostensible job it is to provide real services to real people. these people are LARPing their way through everything. trolling as govt bc they have no respect for the work of it.

It's a good strategy if their goal is to avoid being rounded up and thrown in a gulag by Trump. If their aim is to be controlled opposition that Trump, as dictator, allows to survive, then they are probably on the right track. I'm not convinced they're doing this in an effort to win a free election
I don’t know if Newsom, Shapiro and Rahm are idiots, but this is an idiotic strategy.

Here’s the moment LAPD ordered media along with protestors against the wall, despite requests for a supervisor as well as reminders that PC409.7(b) specifically exempts media from dispersal orders. Never made contact with a PIO. didn’t speak with a supervisor for a very long time after being cuffed.

SHIVERS [Easy: Failure] — The door ahead beckons. You hear a whisper, but you can't make out what it is. Your feet move on their own, and your sluggish steps take you to the roof. Why are you up here? What year is it? And why is the sun so bright? You look down. Reporters are shouting.

It is pretty noticeable that even as mainstream opinion on Israel and Gaza finally shifts, you don’t hear the Responsible Adults apologizing for punishing all the college kids protesting the atrocities. Quite the opposite in fact!

All the dire implications notwithstanding it is hilarious how evil this technology is. Billions of dollars spent on this greasy lying stupid thing that was literally built to replace people, and everyone that uses it gets weaker, lazier, dumber, and sadder for having done so. Well done all around.

when RFK says he wants to “end chronic disease,” what people hear is “he wants to cure us” but what he means is “i want to cull the weak”
Republicans are waging a generalized war on science, but I think many of them don’t fully grok that RFK isn’t at war with science alone or per se: he’s at war with sick people, and of the view that only the lucky should be allowed to survive into old age. They are know nothings, he is Mengele.
RFK Jr. has now officially stated that he will dismantle the United States Preventive ServicesTask Force (USPSTF).

This is an independent body of expert scientists who volunteer their time to review data and provide guidance to Americans on important things like cancer screenings.

Absolutely dystopian juxtaposition from the Guardian front page. Difficult to understand how anyone of decency and conscience can defend this government at this point. Just sheer moral degeneracy to arm a state that does this and arrest people for objecting. Wtf are we doing as a country?

Turns out that NPR and PBS' pandering to the right still didn't save their funding. Maybe there's a lesson here for media that think that tilting to the right will spare them from accusations of "liberal bias."
The rescission bill has passed the Senate. Once it passes the House, as expected, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's budget will be zeroed out for the first time since 1967, back when TV stations still broadcast in black and white.
