I get it. He was really friendly, sounded smart, and said lots of nice words. He didn't engage in mean rhetoric.

Does that matter when he was also drone strike murdering american citizens, deporting hundreds of thousands, endorsing Bush's torture regime, and letting the wealthy rob us?

King's intelligence and moral clarity is unparalleled, especially his attack on military spending in 1967.

Then think about how in 2026 we'll spend $40 billion to turn warehouses into immigrant concentration camps, but won't house people on the streets.

This is what neoliberal democrats in the tradition of Clinton, Obama, and Biden want: mass deportation, but the "nice" kind.

It's exactly the same thing about the mass suffering caused by human caging: that's fine so long as the cops, guards, and prosecutors use kinder, gentler rhetoric.
Hillary Clinton: "More people were deported under my husband and Barack Obama without killing American citizens and without putting children into detention camps than were in the first Trump term or this first year of Trump's second term."

Conditions in ICE detention facilities are horrific and merit your outrage. This will only get worse as they seek to warehouse more human beings.

But don't forget the everyday horror of America's human caging system.

9 people have already died in LA county jail in the first 43 days of 2026.

It was a "sideshow," I was told.

This is all useless.

Cops love bodycams.

Renee Good's murderer filmed it.

Steve Bannon says ICE will surround the polling places.

What difference would body cams make while murdering and interfering with elections when the feds promise immunity and those convicted will be pardoned?
Body cameras on.
Masks off.
Judicial warrants required.
Independent investigations.
Justice for victims.

Is that too much to ask?

It's unclear which is more embarrassing:

Democrats' list of pathetic, ineffective, borderline useless polite requests to do things ICE is already required to do that they call "demands"

or the fact that Republicans call them "unrealistic," "radical and extreme," or a "far left wish list"

Anyone who works with left-leaning groups knows that actual radical groups rarely get a penny of funding.

Roughly 6 percent of philanthropic dollars support racial equity work, and only 1 percent supports racial justice work.

The rest is just people caring about each other and fighting fascism.

The only benefit of Trump, assuming we survive, is a deeper understanding that we should never trust cops and prosecutors.

They were lying to judges well before Trump took over.

Trump is an escalation, but the problem of cops and prosecutors lying, and judges trusting them, has always existed.
Sadly, this is the ICE M.O.: Assault innocent people and then tell elaborate lies to blame the victim. No judge should give any credence to anything a DHS lawyer says to them. They have proven themselves to be liars too often.

Another meaningless kente cloth moment from Democrats, proposing meaningless "reforms" that wouldn't have saved Renee Good or Alex Pretti's life, let alone anyone else who ICE has murdered, or any of the 30+ people who have died in detention.

Religion really, really, really matters to MAGA fascists---unless you are Black, brown, or poor, in which case they can raid your congregation and kidnap all your worshippers.

Same goes for schools and courthouses in the secular world.
A community is devastated after ICE raids an LA church and arrests a congregant during a church event.

“This was a violation of our Sacred Right to Worship and Serve our Lord Jesus Christ Freely and Safely.” ~ Church officials, in a press release

This does nothing. Another act of complicity by democrats to have ever made this useless demand.

ICE/CBP and every other cop knows they can turn off or obscure body cam footage. If all else fails, they just won't turn over the footage.

The kidnappings and killings will continue.

One of the major failings of our legal system is the enormous deference given to "the DOJ", "the FBI" or any other prosecutor or cop in general.

You could list thousands of examples of cop lies and prosecutor misconduct, and the answer would almost always be the same:

We believe the state.
