Rubio: This is not the kind ever mission to do Congressional notice on.

Trump: Congress has a tendency to leak.

Unclear who will be running Venezuela for the foreseeable future but Trump indicates it (for now) will primarily be Hegseth, Rubio, and the U.S. military.

Trump: They now call it the "Don-roe Doctrine" [...] American dominance in the Western hemisphere will never be questioned again.

Trump: We're going to have our very large United States oil companies, the biggest anywhere in the world, go in [...] And we are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so.

Trump: We're going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition... We are going to run the country.

Tom Cotton: Congress isn't notified when the FBI is going to arrest a drug trafficker or a cyber criminal here in the United States. Nor should Congress be notified when the executive branch is executing arrests on indicted persons.

When asked directly, Trump skirts an endorsement of María Corina Machado to take over Venezuela, says their 2024 election (and "Charlie" would agree with him) "wasn't a hell of a lot worse than what they did to us in 2020."

Trump says "something is gonna have to be done" about Mexico and President Claudia Sheinbaum in response to a question about whether the Venezuelan strike was a "message" to her government.

Fox anchors seem a little baffled that Trump was able to watch the operation live from Mar-a-Lago vs somewhere secure like the Situation Room.

you don't need to add caveats agreeing that the head of state abducted is a bad guy before opposing abduction of a head of state by military force. If the rule was any head of government is fair game then the entire world would be a series of decapitation strikes and show trials in foreign courts.

Trump preempts his own press conference with an appearance on Fox: "a few injuries but no deaths on our side."
January 3, 2026 at 2:06 PM
Fox News anchors have already reached the natural point of international tension here: can Trump basically do this to any foreign leader he accuses of being involved in drug trafficking? Should allies like Mexico be worried?

Seems somewhat relevant as the trump admin promises people thousands of dollars in a “stipend” to leave during the holiday season: This article ends with an account - one of so many - of a family of three following the rules and orders, and after informed that ICE officers present had “our orders”…
In a profile of Stephen Miller with @swin24.bsky.social, we reported he’s privately laughed off immigrant families’ “sob stories.”

Speaking last night on Fox about the spiked CECOT story, Miller laughed about how ‘60 Minutes’ is “trying to tell sob stories."
