Yeah, hi, I’m a person with “mobility challenges” (excuse me while I hurl). What we want, by and large, are not expensive, heavy devices that will “help us walk again”, but ramps.

I know, it’s not sexy, as technology invented before Christ, but it is overlooked in favor of…this. Repeatedly.

@annabower.bsky.social Would you be able to signal boost this at all?
Hi everyone, switching gears for a personal request: my friend's cousin has been detained while trying to check in at an immigration office in Wisconsin, and is now at risk of deportation.

If anyone has links to immigration resources in Green Bay or Milwaukee, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

Facebook plans to put facial recognition in its glasses and they think we’re too stupid to fight back.

Their internal memo: “We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”

Side note, but Trek's longeivity as a franchise makes it a great example of the Douglas Adams maxim about tech: anything invented before you were born is just part of how the world works, anything invented when you're young is novel and exciting, and anything invented when you're over 30 is heresy.
With alt text.

“Captain Mumbles” is a hell of a thing to call Holly Hunter, whose distinctive speech pattern is due to mumps taking her hearing on one side. The disrespect from someone who cares more about “decorum” than decency.

Too many Brits do not properly appreciate the NHS. The system is a fucking gem, and it’s truly criminal that the right wing has done so much fucking damage to it.

I’m from the US. I know. Y’all DO NOT appreciate, truly, how much money gets sunk into the US system.

And no, it’s not faster. (1/2)

Gandalf really is heroic when you consider that there were originally five wizards and one of them turned evil, two of them fucked off and went out east to have orgies, and one is just super into talking to gophers. The one last hope of free peoples was the stoner and that crazy mfer did it.

My favourite sub genre of military history is mad weapons the designers thought would be the next big innovation but were often more dangerous to the operator than anyone on the business end.

My evening with @lajellybean.bsky.social had devolved into an impassioned argument as to whether a piano is a violin or a balalaika.

It would take far too long to explain.

Hated Jellico as a kid. It's very interesting watching that with adult eyes and realising that literally the only thing he did wrong in the entire two parter was to not be particularly approachable, and he was actually nicer to Riker than Picard was in Encounter At Farpoint.

Watching Chain of Command, still makes me boil watching the Enterprise senior staff being a bunch of whiny little babies about having a new Captain and behaving in a monumentally unprofessional manner by openly discussing how much they think he sucks in the corridors where anyone can hear them.
