The big 50 looms! Saturday.

And the book of my writing path... is released into the wild.
1st March is next week!

Wolf's Path is a collection of my stories from the start of my writing path until now. I turn 50 this year.

The collection is unapologetically queer & trans & joyful and angry & painful.

Not me reading in an email from @starsandsabers.bsky.social, that I'll be getting my first hardcover edition, for ๐Ÿ› ๐Ÿœ"The Ah Huat Engineering Cookbook and Organizing Manual"๐Ÿ› ๐Ÿœ! Deliciously giving space slum lords the middle finger, in Spring '27. More below on the property laws that inspired AHE

this might be a long shot... but do i know anyone based in Japan who has access to the National Diet Library in Japan and could help me access digital scans of a book with contents that are now in the public domain (early 1900s)?

We started the SH Reviews week with @mattholder93.bsky.social on the weird horror of Ballingrud's The Cathedral of the Drowned:

"while my initial interest in Ballingrud comes from the heavy metal of it all, my lingering investment is rooted in the ecologies and philosophies undergirding the texts."

In 1912, Edgar Rice Burroughsโ€™s A Princess of Mars saw publication in The All-Story (under the title Under the Moons of Mars). It introduced the American reading public to John Carter: a swashbucklโ€ฆ

No criticism about the lion dance(r)(s) - they are massively skilled and athletic, but... sometimes, I wonder what kind of message we are sending out to people, especially kids.

Like actual punch-ups between parents/adults. So far, it's been quite civilised - and the lesson seems to be: luck is random, you need to fight for it, etc.

It seems to work very well in capitalist societies though.

Watching lion dance performances (very popular now, since it's going to be Lunar New Year!). And where I am, the lions give out oranges and plushies.

It's a scrum when they toss the oranges and plushies out - one day I would hear about actual fights breaking out over plushies (usually parents).

No embroidery tonight, only knitting.

I already have a design in mind (for the next embroidery thing), but it would be after LNY.

Now listening to the wind and kids playing outside.
