Reminder that "you can build natural relationships at cons" isn't available to writers who cross the racists controlling the spaces, and to a lot of marginalized writers who aren't comfortable supporting or safe within the spaces as they are.

There's also an entire discussion on where BIPOC can actually go to get published and the restrictions on that that genre is absolutely not willing to have yet and would go a *lot* different than almost all white people think.

I've been thinking a lot about how Vulcans were invented by men and how 21st century Trek has gone out of its way to show that their rationale for hiding (not controlling) emotion as a reason not to ignore ethics was always a lie.

I would not personally agree to participate on any tech related idea / action teams for any organization unless they were also putting one together on racism and exclusion.
And from what I've seen, that sort of communicated individual stand is what is most missing from white authors.
