I've decided to step back from social media: www.lyssachiavari.com/2025/09/16/e...

I will still post here when I have news or announcements.

I have a couple more #TimeTravelAuthors posts queued, but I'm not going to finish out the month. I'll miss you all!

Keep in touch on Patreon or my blog!
Ending the social media adventure – Lyssa Chiavari, Author
As you may recall, back in 2023 I dipped my toes back into social media after several years away. You can read all my thoughts about the first ten months of that experiment here.

Heads up: I'm going to be removing my books from Kindle Unlimited at the end of this enrollment period on January 14. If you'd like to read any of my books in KU, make sure you check them out before that date!
January 3, 2026 at 12:38 AM
My sci-fi trilogy is extremely friendship-focused. The series is in KU right now, but I'm pulling it back out on January 15. I'd be interested in an Itch.io bundle if you'll have me!

$1.98 for a wonderful series. (Or at least grab books 1 and 1.5 for free! Then read them because I loved them!)
It seems incredible to believe, but ten years ago today, my debut novel, FOURTH WORLD, was published! To celebrate, the complete series is on sale at Amazon. FOURTH WORLD and DIFFERENT WORLDS are free, and NEW WORLD and ONE WORLD are $0.99! www.amazon.com/dp/B07XM3WKS...

I also have a special short story for Iamos fans today: a bonus epilogue to ONE WORLD! If you wanted to see how Tamara, Henry, Scylla, and Mariyah are doing after the series ends, here's your chance. It's available now on my Patreon for both free and paid members. www.patreon.com/posts/145201...

It is nice to see the real Jim Theis get recognition after being lost to the urban legend for so long. As I thought, it sounds like he was a nice, ordinary, and well-liked guy, and he deserves to be remembered for who he was. Thank you again to Walt for reaching out!
December 17, 2025 at 4:15 AM
After so much speculation, I am really happy to see someone who actually knew Jim is out there willing to set the record straight. And I can't believe the sequel to "Eye of Argon" is finally out there in the world!
December 17, 2025 at 4:15 AM
He has also donated his collection of zines to the State Historical Society of Missouri! collections.shsmo.org/manuscripts/...

I have enjoyed speaking to him over the past couple days. He has a lot of insight on this important part of fandom history.

You can find info about Jim, the story, GRAFAN, and other fandom history on his Substack:

Grignr the Barbarian tale rediscovered
The "Theis Verse" expands as a long-lost Grignr the Barbarian story is published by Walt Jaschek, with pages scanned from Theis' own manuscript and a original cover and intro by Walt.

Walt Jaschek was the editor of GRAFAN in the early 1970s, and... he has the rumored sequel to "The Eye of Argon"!

AND he super kindly mailed a copy of it to my PO Box, along with this wonderful note!
December 17, 2025 at 4:15 AM
You may recall my deep dive into Jim Theis, author of "The Eye of Argon," which I originally posted on Mastodon in 2023 and mirrored to my blog a couple months ago: www.lyssachiavari.com/2025/09/25/t...

I am now elated to announce a shocking update: I've been contacted by an IRL friend of Jim's!
December 17, 2025 at 4:15 AM
I only found out it was at $0.99 again because it appeared on my sales dashboard. Someone bought it last week for $0.99. I feel really bad, because this person could have gotten it for free anywhere else. It's a 12-year-old 10-page short story, I don't want to be charging people money for that.
December 16, 2025 at 8:15 PM
You can't natively set books to free on Amazon, you have to ask their customer service to price match by sending them links to other stores where it's listed for free. I have done this multiple times for this book, and it will always get set to free and the next thing I know it's $0.99 again.
December 16, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Just a heads up to all, I have unpublished "The Choice" (Iamos short story) from Amazon because it is supposed to be free but Amazon has raised the price to $0.99 THREE TIMES over the last two years. It is free on all other retailers, so you can get it on another store or through my newsletter.

Over the last 24 hours, the most INSANE development has occurred re: my Jim Theis thread/blog post. Like, easily the most bonkers thing that's ever happened to me. I need to post an update but I have not been coherent enough to explain it all. I'll try to do a blog or an update on social this week
December 16, 2025 at 5:10 AM
Breaking my social media silence to quickly say: Last night I finished the LAST new Iamos Trilogy-related thing I'll ever write 😢 A short story I promised when One World was published. It will be included in the special edition hardcovers this spring & free to all Patrons on Patreon on January 1.
December 7, 2025 at 4:12 AM
Full disclosure, this was also the author's preference (am I allowed to say that? 🤣🤣)
November 30, 2025 at 7:55 AM
It's Ace Week, and reading the Iamos Trilogy is the perfect way to celebrate. Binge the complete series now with Kindle Unlimited, or request it from your local public library!

Looking for feedback: When backing a Kickstarter, would you rather pay for shipping as part of the campaign or at time of fulfillment so you can choose specifically what shipping method you want? (eg tracked/untracked)
I'll be shipping as soon as I get the $, so within a month of the campaign ending

In this case, tempting fate!

#LesFicFri: hurt

Surprisingly, I haven't actually used the word "hurt" in JLTFT—surprising because so much of the book is about overcoming the hurts of the past and learning to love yourself and find people who build you up rather than tear you down.

(This chapter is going live Oct. 1 btw)

#TimeTravelAuthors 19: Any reference to other time travel works in your story?

Quite a few—like this scene in chapter 4 where Alana and Maureen rely on JT's encyclopedic knowledge of the genre to try to brainstorm an answer to how Maureen traveled back in time.

#TimeTravelAuthors 17: strange

Look, I'm cheating a little on this one because it is post-sized on Mastodon, it's the only occurrence of the word strange(r) in the book, and it makes no sense without the context of all these sentences. And because I like Alana and JT's banter.

#TimeTravelAuthors 15: miracles?

Even though I'm religious, I try to keep my books secular, apart from characters mentioning their own faith. In JLTFT, things can be explained by magic rather than miracles. That said, there are always coincidences that can't be explained, make of that what you will
