If 2025 represents a regression to the mean. Let's hope 2026 begins the ascension of the kind.

What good could possibly come from giving a child a book?

I mean first they get to thinking. Before you know it, they start showing signs of knowing stuff and showing symptoms of empathy. Then, they might develop an imagination!!! And horrors, what if they may start to dream and have aspirations!
truly wild to use a photo of a kid happily reading a book in a freshly made bed as some kind of ominous sign of bad parenting
Man, the economic vibes are putrid

It turns out there were genres of fiction I didn't think I like because I didn't read them. That's not to say we should love all genres equally, but it is to say don't prejudge an entire category based on one sampling or by what its detractors say about it.

I think I grew up as an artist when I began to see the underlying skill, craft, discipline, and techniques involved in works that I didn't enjoy or find beautiful.

That's why I never try to stomp on someone's joy. If someone enjoys a piece of work it's worth loving... even if it's not for me.

I have a small sales streak happening and I'd love to continue it... do you need some hopeful fantasy set in a real city that will get your mind off of *all of this* for a short while? What about to give? [e-books are always timely!] Or for your January book club, or 2026 reading bingo card or...
Even the grittiest blue collar city has a spark of magic under the surface. In Baltimore, you might find that magic around any street corner or darkened alley - if you know how to look.

Once again woke up to book sales! What a great holiday surprise!

If you think your support of indie authors goes unnoticed, I promise you it does not. We see every sale [and sometimes package them ourselves, depending on where you've purchased] and it always lifts our spirits. 💜

Share an actor who nailed a role so hard that nobody else will ever be able to live up to it…

Robin Williams take on the genie from Aladdin was exceptional, fun, and so uniquely tied to his talents.

I just found the phrase my character will use when things go wrong. I quite like it as a statement of complaint, protest, or mild profanity.

"Rubbery curds!"

One of the first rules we were taught in school was not to reward plagiarism @sfwa.org

Rethink your Nebula Awards stance on allowing AI works please
This was a perfect opportunity to take a principled stance. Instead we have a weak moderate position based not on principles, but on not offending anyone who builds their career on plagiarism and chicanery.

For shame, @sfwa.org.
I'm very disappointed in SFWA's soft stance on LLM and the Nebulas. Any use of LLM, disclosed or not, should not be awards eligible. It's plagiarism and crap, period

2 4 6 0 1!

Am I the only one?
