Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum.

Not a free pass for corporate-owned slop engines.
Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

generative AI has become widely available in the summer of 2022 and entered mainstream in 2023

people are working themselves up in a frenzy, convinced they're utterly helpless without software younger than still-fresh canned tuna. we have been making art for at least 50,000 years, get a grip

I'm actually not convinced that you guys'll be able to vote him out (dictators tend to superglue their asses to their thrones & must be evicted with prybars,) but this song by the Piedmont Raging Grannies is happiness!❤️

This is your PSA about mask building and projects:

You need to start at LEAST a week before your holiday, party, convention, or event if you've never made one of my masks! Starting 2 weeks ahead is best so you have a relaxed time making & painting. Mardi Gras is the 17th! paleopanthera.com/masks

I've seen an uptick in sales on these due to obvious reasons and I just wanted to say I'm donated 10% of all proceeds to Alight, a Minnesota-based charity supporting those with refugee, humanitarian parole, SIV, or asylum status.

I found a pretty empty wild snail shell on a walk today! (It promptly went in a plant pot hehe.)

Also there was a very pretty dog - a light tan brindle husky/akita(?) mix with a black muzzle, icy blue eyes & a cute white blaze plus white front socks but I was too anxious to ask picture permission.😅

I'd buy up a bunch of rural land, ranches & farms & the like, & rewild them. Emphasis would be on buying land containing wetland to protect it from being destroyed by development. I'd also build some truly affordable, energy efficient, pet-friendly housing.

Plus: a little hobby farm for my family.❤️
Pop Quiz:

You've got Elon's money. What's the first thing you buy that makes you happy?

For me it's, "pay every single campaign on GoFundMe." There's only been $30bil raised by GFM its entire existence, I could drop $30bil like it was *nothing*, do immeasurable good, and be instantly beloved.
Elon COULD be happy

He'd need to learn an art, make amends to his children, give to the poor, make friends, love a movie, play a video game, literally do anything but be Elon Musk - the one thing he cannot do

That money could buy anyone happiness except for him

I just caught Churro out & about again! He was once again scoping out his water dish which is really interesting 'cus a lot of rosy boa keepers allegedly don't even let their rosy boas have a water dish most of the time due to their desert nature. I was also super curious about seeing how Churro...

The new MUPPET SHOW was FANTASTIC!!!

Loved every second of it. There have been soooo many attempts to redo The Muppets and it never captures the magic. This 100% did.

First time I actually heard Sabrina Carpenter sing. Between this and SNL I might actually get current on celebrities.

My wife shared this with me from her work's website.

Five things to know about measles.

The facts in #1 were shocking:
🔴 It’s highly contagious: 90% of non-immune people exposed to measles will get sick.
🔴 It can stay in the air for hours after an infected person leaves a room.

Most animals capable of seeing colour can see ultraviolet light - we humans are actually very unusual for being (generally) unable to perceive it. Famous painter Claude Monet was able to perceive it following an eye injury as a whitish blue.

Not to be unkind, but I am so impatient about the “what’s the point of making my little zines/comics/crafts/art when the world is on fire” sentiments. I get it, but saving the world is not a responsibility shouldered by your art! That’s what being a neighbor, a friend, and hell, a citizen is for!!!

We've heard that Ian Austin has also been arrested again, this time for...protesting at the church.

Everybody's First Amendment rights are at risk. Not just journalists. Everybody, everywhere.
Ian Austin, an Army veteran, was arrested for protesting ICE in Minneapolis. But he’s continued protesting. Senior reporter @julialurie.bsky.social spoke to him.

“When they say, ‘Why would you be out here?’ How the fuck could I not be out here?” he says. “My nation is under attack."
