"The only thing that matters in our new economy is monetized attention. This is a problem if you’re an artist who needs time to think about things."

Yes.
In a post completely free of self-pity, Cathy Malkasian says she’s leaving comics because of poor sales. This is something I can certainly relate to. In Cathy’s case, it kills me that someone this good can’t find an audience. I wish the world was a better place.

My truck is borked again. Almost a quarter century old. Smell gas under it & it’s misfiring/rumbling. Also hear a bonk/bang noise underneath when I accelerate hard especially uphill.

I am so tired. All I can think of now besides going to the mechanic is to write out everything—

I have been extracting myself from the internet to get some disability-related resets done and I don't really want to come back. Not like in a "and Palaeo disappeared in 2025" kind of way but more like "The computer is for friends, art, sometimes games; I don't want to scroll or keep up or look for-

I’m afraid if I name the next dog Bombadil that I’d end up calling him Boomer because “Tom” and “Tommy” makes my skeleton try to escape.

…although Bomber is kind of cute.

This is probably the largest art I've made in a long time; it's 16x48 inches at 300dpi. All of the animals are inspired by petroglyphs and cave art from around the world on top of the shapes found within the animals themselves. #art #caveart #petroglyph #deer #wolves #ravens #raven #wolf #elk

The more I expand my mission to tell my story, the more I recognize the minute signs of how society tends to crush autistic children's confidence from the start, ensuring their failure in adulthood.

Was always told I was [r word]. Turns out I have an obsession for psychology, theory, & thinking

Please excuse the egregious watermarking; tattoo designs are among the most commonly stolen art and the pngs end up far afield. #art #tattoo #unicorn

This was a private commission for a unicorn tattoo done somewhere between my cave art styles and my Scythian inspired work.

This was intended to be an entirely different style but I got to looking at it and realized how neatly my petroglyph style fit inside the lines I was working on. I think this is the most G-rated blood I've made. #art #petroglyph #tigers #blood #tiger #rockart

"King of Meadows" - Prospective printmaking design. I'm not sure how large this would need to be nor if I'd need to do woodcut or linocut. Or if it'd be better off being screenprinted.

But...whatever I decide in the far flung future here's the art for it. #art #printmaking #megaloceros #pleistocene

A collection of animal petroglyphs; these are presently available as merch on my Redbubble. It’s possible I may use these designs for block printing in the future. These won't be the only ones; I've got a very large animal kingdom to cover. #art #petroglyph #glyph #animalart #caveart #neocaveart

Did a whole pile of glyph commissions at one point and I still really like several of them. I think the pine marten is still on someone's sailboat and the margay ended up on a friend's BRZ. #art #animalart

I've seen the Paranthropus robustus (AKA Australopithecus robustus) fossil SK-54 going around lately which reminds me of this art inspired by it. A leopard's canines perfectly match two skull punctures on the back of the fossil skull. #fossil #paleoart #leopard #australopithecus #paranthropus #art

Hello my fellow artists. I have a question:

What do you have in your studio (nooks & sofas are studios just like whole rooms fight me) for comfort/coziness that is NOT a desk, chair, mouse or mouse-adjacent, or keyboard?

I have multiple sets of string lights crisscrossing my ceiling on dimmers.

While I wait on the local university to get back to me I want y’all to know that my Tupperware of giant beetle larvae on the counter has the exact same vibes as cat distribution system kittens temporarily housed in the bathroom

Gorgeous giant beetle grubs I’m trying to ID. Time to go find out about beetle grub care lol. There’s so much suburban development in my county that the more unusual and uncommon bugs are really special so I really want to help these guys out. I am thrilled big beetles breed on our land!

Hey entomology bluesky! I’m in piedmont Georgia (US) and this massive oak log just came crashing out of one of my trees. Does anybody have any idea what these huge grubs are? The only huge beetles I know locally are unicorn beetles. If they ARE big beetles I want to know how to keep them safe!

My favorite color in all creation is blue. Like Ford's Bright Island Blue (my truck's color).

...all of my work is in warm tones.

One life eclipses another; Smilodon takes down a whitetail deer. Inspired by petroglyphs, cave art, and ancient Scythian art. It's weird to think that the whitetail deer survived the ice age and made it to the present but many of its predators did not. #art #smilodon #paleontology #rockart #deer
