all the guys promising war and violent retribution? they do not sound scary, they sound scared, and they should be, the movement will eat itself and has been at it for some time. the liberal boogeypeople of their imaginations are stand-ins for the wolves at their doors.
and while i am on the subject, i don’t need to make big, plaintive bleats about how political violence isn’t the answer because i don’t call for political violence and i don’t support people who do. know who did? charlie kirk.
i won’t make jokes about the shooting but i will absolutely make jokes about kash patel’s clown show FBI joining up with spencer cox to host a completely incompetent goat rodeo of an investigation

Organizing and/or going to a local community meeting and saying "things should be better, somewhat" has the policy impact power of sending a 100,000 posts.
1/x 🧵 🔌💡 #Greensky. Hey climate peeps! Here’s a local victory to celebrate, and some lessons from it. Last night, the Town of Poughkeepsie, NY, voted to overturn its 18-month moratorium (6 months, renewed twice) on grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Starting to regret inventing the podcast

I try to be sympathetic to these kind of tweets nowadays because they contain an important grain of truth (homelessness is a policy choice)—but no, we genuinely don’t have enough homes, which is clear when you look at the 10s of millions of people who can’t afford to live away from roommates/parents
There are 16 million vacant homes in the US & less than 1 million people without homes.

Pundits keep saying we need to build more housing when what we need to do is confiscate homes & apartments kept vacant by landlords & mega-corporations for short-stay rentals & artificial price manipulation.

It feels good to be one of the 6% of Canadian voters who went NDP. Carney has been almost consistently disappointing. I know it's a privilege or whatever under FPTP to not vote Liberal but I'm glad to have principles and reject faux-progressive, centrist, status quo enabling governments.

Air Canada's CEO admitting to the media that their entire plan for the flight attendants' strike was "have the government say they're not allowed" and that they have no other ideas about how to deal with the strike is really a "yeah this is how Canada REALLY works" moment if ever there was one

Rent stabilized apartments in New York don’t come with income caps. Andrew Cuomo doesn’t know this because he doesn’t live here
True: @zohranmamdani lives in 1 unit of rent-stabilized housing.

Also true: Andrew Cuomo oversaw the loss of 96,064 units of rent-stabilized housing. And killed NYC’s program helping people move out of shelter.

Leaders must show moral clarity. Andrew, time to move out. 🧵

Imagine if the Democratic Party actually helped Zohran instead of trying to kneecap him at every step. A better party is immediately possible if they stop shoving money into the anti-trans combination Racism Dial/Money Toilet and instead get behind candidates people actually want.

Really can't deal with the "free buses and rent freeze on already stabilized units are bad" arguments. It's NYC! It's the richest city in the world! It'll be fine! Dare to dream.

I'm in touch with a source in Cuomo's camp and the mood is not good. "I thought I'd gone to the limits. I hadn't. The Cenobites gave me an experience beyond limits. Pain and pleasure, indivisible," an anonymous senior adviser reports.

The repression of trans people is not, by and large, a grassroots outpouring of hatred from the American people. It's something that's been carefully planted and tended over years by a handful of media people and their pet reporters.
Heightened Scrutiny, a very good doc about the Supreme Court case that was just ruled on, does an impeccable and infuriating job laying out just how culpable the NYT and Atlantic are for the nation’s transphobia www.avclub.com/sundance-202...

AI guys have useless jobs but derive their entire sense of self from their careers (which are useless.) They want to make things of value (or at least be treated like it) but lack the curiosity or humility to do so. They live their lives in unlocked prisons and hate you for refusing to join them.
The level of hatred these AI bros have for creative people I just do not understand
