in an era when carnivore diet influencers are in charge of the american nuclear arsenal we have to admit the "annoying vegan" stereotype barely ever actually existed and the "all meat diet guy" is real, increasingly omnipresent, and way more annoying and inconvenient to actually be around

it's kinda funny when people say "you'll be left behind" because technically I already lost my job* and got replaced by ai. even the redundancy notice was made from a prompt, heh

so, arguably, I'm the one living in the future

had to go and look for the discourse, which frees me of any obligation to have a take on it, i'm free

seeing something described as "the most guardian article ever" and then discovering it was written by boris johnson's sister in law

and well, yeah honestly i can't imagine anything more "the guardian", a bit like finding out the editor of the atlantic was a prison guard in the idf

it's not so much "heroku could have done better" but "everyone i met there dreamed of something better" and it's honestly a little weird that we all still care about the product a decade on, heh

i always liked the idea of making my own heroku in a box, and docker went some of the way in making it possible, kubernetes moreso, but it's really things like "cloud native postgres" and other pre-built operators that make it a real possibility now heh

i got a bunch of thoughts about this, but i did work there for two years, i did databases and database accessories

i gotta say the buildpack and git push workflow is still real nice and i do miss the ease of deployment and rollback

on art: i keep getting the urge to do pottery

unsure if it's one of those "i am grieving my dead parents" things (they both tried their hands at pottery), or simply baking mud looks super fun

*pounding my clipboard on the desk* ART! ART! ART! ART! ART!

for what it's worth, i've found the key to being good at something, beyond the usual time money and access to equipment, is simply enjoying being bad at something

if you can't enjoy sucking at a thing, you'll never spend time on it
February 6, 2026 at 7:49 PM
technically, doing performance art makes you an artist, so that bad take? actually it's art now
