It's the worst that it's been since the last time it happened. It's happening again right in front of our eyes.

This is what the keyboard warriors who are denigrating the (thus far) nonviolence of the resistance to ICE are missing. The whole point of nonviolence is not to shame violent actors. It's to neutralize their propaganda and win over fencesitters.
Here's a regular white guy (literally "Chad") not a protester. because, "It seemed pointless, or just a way for people to expiate their sense of guilt." Chad witnessed something shattering. And, that all changed in a moment.

Excellent article!

the blue rose polling on this must be godawful.
A few days ago, Rep. Laura Gillen was one of 7 House Democrats who voted with Republicans to fund DHS without the policy changes most Dems wanted. Now she’s calling for impeaching Kristi Noem. Politics are rapidly shifting here.

and the way that the media sold the Trump campaign - which was different from the incoherent campaign itself - was "don't pay attention to what Trump is saying or doing, this will fix the economy, you're a smart guy, you get it" and thousands of huge dipshits were like "I AM a smart guy!!!"

It hit me over the weekend that Alex Pretti was killed for establishing the run, for helping a woman off the ground as she was attacked by men with guns. Pretti was doing a little thing, a loving thing, a necessary thing.
Establishing the run against authoritarian rule, as @edsbs.bsky.social says, requires the little things, the acts of resistance and kindness and community that eventually add up to something much larger and transformative.

I wrote about it for BadFaithTimes.com.

Graham Linehan proves the point that trans liberationists have been saying from the start:

If you'll permit dehumanising and stripping the rights of trans people, you will dehumanise and strip the rights of anyone on a long enough timeline.
This is exactly the same playbook Graham Linehan uses against trans people, where defending trans rights is cast as defending "rape" and "paedophilia." He uses "rape" and "paedophilia" as punchlines, and, therefore, all of his hate speech and advocation for violence against his enemies is justified.

All right indulge me for a moment because there’ll be a link to Fox at the end of this thread for sourcing purposes. But it’s valuable to see what the other side is saying. In short, they mix some actual facts in with some completely deranged fantasy. 🧵

It was kind of a tossed-off gag in a blog last week but the ICE/CBP forces in Minnesota really are an expansion team made up of the most readily available players in a depressingly glutted violence worker marketplace. Not even quad-A types. Independent league guys with well-known makeup issues.
Federal officers just came in and cleared the protest with tear gas. One officer asked press why we didn’t call 911 when the protesters were destroying the hotel and told us that we are bad Americans. Full video to come on @statuscoupnews.bsky.social

I do not understand why people are so obsessed with getting people out of right wing echo chambers.

It's not like 95% of the country is swimming in this soup. Even if it is half, do people realize how absurdly powerful organizing the other half of the country is? That would be nuts.

Seriously, folks, people did NOT vote for murder on the streets. A majority of those who voted went for Trump, and to win power, those against Trump will have to win many of them over, not reject them all as people who want fascism.

Outside a Minneapolis hotel is a lone agent, swaying, baffled, with a bloody nose he may have given himself, fumbling with the pin of a smoke grenade, demanding to see the MPD (which weren't there), and trying to hold his gun between his knees.
