New Jersey: Please CALL or TEXT Governor Murphy now and ask him to veto the absurd bill passed by the state legislature requiring insurance and registration of low-speed e-bikes...details below via @rpa.org.
REMINDER: Call @govmurphy.bsky.social and tell him to vote NO on the e-bike bill!

The bill fails on safety, climate, + clarity. Call now and save low-speed e-bikes!

Why do cycle bridges matter?

Cycle bridges create safe, direct routes for people on bikes, especially across busy roads, railways, or waterways. They remove conflict points with motor traffic, reducing the risk of collisions and making cycling more enjoyable for everyone.

Installation is complete at Essex Street & underway at Bergenline Ave & Newport, where demand for better info has been strong since the disruptions last summer.

During installation, use the NJ TRANSIT app for scheduled departures.

To explain zoning to my family, I'll say: "For Thanksgiving, the salad is on one table, drinks upstairs, sides in the living room, and the turkey is in the bathroom."
Then we'll watch the traffic chaos as everyone tries to eat.
That's how bad zoning creates traffic out of thin air. 🦃

The Turnpike Trap Coalition publishes the following statement in response to NJTA's Friday announcement. The "cancellation" is misleading:
❌ Proceeding with 4 new lanes adding >20K cars and trucks a day to Newark & Jersey City
❌ Tear down and rebuild plans after 14A are murky
❌ No dollars for NJT

Nice! Sidewalk snow clearing at scale. Haven't seen these power brush sweepers before.

I think this one was hired by the local downtown SID and not by Jersey City itself. It would be a reasonable solution vs relying on every building owner to do the right thing, which never happens.

Legislators in Trenton should vote against the e-bike bill because it:
1) is a de facto ban on Citibike and other popular bike share programs in NJ;
2) puts the livelihoods of many restaurants at risk; and
3) makes low-cost transportation unaffordable and inaccessible.

City leaders tell us safety takes years of studies and budget meetings. Yet when a resident spends $50 on paint to fix it themselves, the police response is instant. Funny how the bureaucracy suddenly disappears when it's time to punish someone.

Never forget, car dependency isn’t freedom.

Some might ask “what’s more free than cars?”

Choices.

Choices are more free than car dependency.

It’s not a hard concept.

I’m not pitting cars against any other single mode of transport.

I’m rejecting design that creates dependency on just one mode.

The speed bumps we went over on the route resulted in many giggles.

Riding together in a cargo bike is a great way for kids to make friends.
