It would not take a lot more funding to provide this bus service, just the will to use a small portion of highway funding for it.

On the Richmond San Rafael Bridge MTC could use the $1 million+ they are spending annually to close the bike lane on weekdays to fund expanded bus service.
San Mateo lacks public buses entirely
Dumbarton has M-F basically peak hours only with a handful of midday options
Richmond San Rafael is slightly better with every day service although peak is only half hourly

These should all be 30 min at minimum 5am-10pm everyday service with hourly nights

Super disappointed by this statement from my representative.

Asking questions of Trump is not anywhere near sufficient.

We need ALL Democrats in Congress to commit to immediate impeachment and immediate actions to stop this war.

We cannot wait for the November election to take action.

Congress must reassert its Constitutional power to declare war and reign in this Administration.

We must use every tool to hold this President accountable and to defend the principle that in the U.S., we do not let one man choose war.

SFMTA approved transit-only red lanes on Ocean Ave in February 2024 - nearly two years ago - after a year of outreach. Now merchants along the Ocean corridor are trying to kill the project, less than a month before the paint was set to be applied.

TIL Japan built the bullet train before California built the 5 freeway.

The best time to build a high speed rail line was 20 years ago, the second best time to build one is today.

If you're interested in transportation advocacy (biking, public transit, safety), islandpress.org/books/if-you... by @carterlavin.bsky.social is great, you should read it.

(I'd emphasize things a bit differently: electoral politics seems strategic, not tactical. But my experience is much narrower.)

According to this story, it'd take half a billion dollars to fix all of Oakland's roads. For context, Trump's East Wing of the White House project costs about $400M

Oakland’s most busted, pothole-ridden roads? Here’s the definitive list
The Oaklandside dug through the city’s last paving report and it’s official: two streets are tied for the worst. But trust us, the competition was stiff.

Enthusiasm for NYC’s mayor-elect may reflect a little-understood reality about the essential role of buses. Still, making them faster won’t be easy.

California has fire code rules to veto plastic posts for protecting bike lanes

California also has rules that allow Waymo to gridlock an entire city during an emergency with no consequences

Why does state only care about fire response times when regulating bike lanes, but not when regulating tech?
Waymo has halted service in San Francisco after numerous videos & images showed its autonomous cars snarling traffic during the blackout.

With traffic lights down, Waymos across the city stopped dead in their tracks at intersections.
