Proud of my #Portland peeps.

Appalled at the dark turn it took. Federal forces deployed heavy waves of chemical munitions on this peaceful daytime protest, onto thousands of people including elders and small children.

Take courage in community. Together we can create a world that supports life.
Massive group bike ride in honor of Alex Pretti, to the Labor Against ICE union rally today. I didn't really capture the scale, there were a lot of people, both on bikes and at the rally/march itself. Way to turn out, Portland. #bikesky #ICEout #laboragainstICE

More than 2 minutes of bike bliss in Utrecht.

Cargo bikes, rental bikes, business people, people carrying flowers, people doubled up, delivery bikers and a delightful flock of school kids teasing each other @ 1:40.

Getting places by bike makes people happy and connected.

A little slice of sensible, kind, Dutch cities is the whole reason I post videos here

I'm very aware of chaotic public space in most other parts of the world, often car-related. There is absolutely no reason all people cannot have nice streets. We just need to figure out how to move away from cars.

Alex Pretti was an American hero. He saved lives. He protected people. He cared deeply about his community, unlike the murderous thugs who killed him.

The very last thing he did was try to help a woman who had been pepper-sprayed and violently shoved to the ground by ICE. 1/

It's a choice.

When putting America back together in the coming years, consider making public space for people rather than the cars some of them drive.

There’s a really nice article about Helen Levitt’s art, by Lauren Graves (www.jstor.org/stable/10.57...), which concludes that the children weren’t just making art but also “a place for themselves within the contested city streets”
During the late 1930s, photograher Helen Levitt recorded New York life, including neighborhood children at play creating their art with chalk in the street #WomensArt

In the days since Ms. Good was killed agents have been caught on camera asking“Have y’all not learned from the past couple days?”

“Learned what?”asks a woman“What’s our lesson here?”

Is male supremacy our lesson? Hatred? Cowardice? That the 1st Amendment turns out to be as fragile as rice paper?

For some reason, very few people these days will stand up and say it, but: the US federal bureaucracy is one of the great wonders of the world, staffed with incredibly diligent people who do their jobs well and care deeply.

Trump's destruction of the federal apparaus was a historic crime.
The Purged
Donald Trump’s destruction of the civil service is a tragedy not just for the roughly 300,000 workers who have been discarded, but for an entire nation.
