Well, my year-end wrap-up (What I Did in 2025) is finally done! Only 11 days late, not bad! You can check it out on my website, benloory.com, if you're interested, but here's the important part: my favorite books I read this year! I mean last year

I've got a box of advance copies of TACOMA. Would love to give a couple away. Maybe let's do this...

Tell me/rave about a fave piece on @havehashad.com.

I'll RT them from HAD and randomly select 2 or 3 tomorrow morning to send a copy to.

I’m not into using AI, but there’s an image that I think should exist but doesn’t, namely a cover for a Malcolm Gladwell-style book called “Pie Hole: The Power of Shutting It”

Hey, so the world is on fire, & you might be struggling for inspiration for your story or novel, yeah?

I gotchu, bro:
A post from @nxnorthwoods.bsky.social prompted me to share what the Twin Cities is actually like. A thread.

1. This is a giant pencil carved from a dead tree, where thousands show up once a year to watch it get sharpened.

This is exactly right. The white kids and adults I know who know the true history of the United States and Colonialism don't feel bad or guilty; they feel angry, in community with their peers of other races, and empowered to push for change. Enlightened white people are dangerous to the hegemony.
This is my song. “Those are the real stakes — not white children feeling guilty, but white children armed with truth, history and a righteous desire to work with others to change the world.”

Wife was humming “Away in a Manger” and our 5 y/o son said: “Does manger mean a place to eat?” He's supposed to grow up into a cruel and indifferent boss, not someone who thinks about root-words, so we're looking for a "poop camp" to send him to, where bad kids go to shovel poop

Another day, another betrayal of the Constitution meriting impeachment
About 1,500 soldiers w/ 11th Airborne Division in Alaska have been placed on prepare-to-deploy orders with a mission in Minnesota in mind, defense officials tell me tonight. Unclear if some or all of them ultimately will go.

News reported tonight by ABC News, too.

ME: How are you supposed to do it?

BAGGER: (crying) Got so stuck.

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.
