The Epstein emails are almost unreadable, from a basic writing POV, but it is also telling/pathetic how seemingly all of them are marked as “high” importance

New York Times killed Weinstein and Epstein stories but just asked Ms Rachel if she was funded by Hamas.

Damn, guess we can’t do anything with our massive budget surplus that would help because it might take a while to do

Thank god we have very serious people like Fionnán Sheahan to tell us long-term planning is a fool’s game, unlike the short-term planning that is working so well for us now
🗣️ "We need a state construction company," says People Before Profit–Solidarity TD Richard Boyd Barrett.
"How many years would it take to set that up?" asks guest host Fionnán Sheahan.

every few years it's revealed that the NYT was sitting on information about some horrific thing that public knowledge of would have changed the country's course and for some reason a ton of people still give them money. you can play those games on other sites

The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

Weird how when I was growing up, I thought getting at job at the New York Times or the Washington Post was the pinnacle of journalism and now I can’t even stand to play a free word game because it’s associated with the NYT and the WP is just a dumb billionaire’s fancy blog

It just wasn't a big, newsworthy deal like, for instance, the college applications of a mayoral candidate to a school he didn't get into or attend.
To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?
“would you like photos of donald and girls in bikinis in my kitchen?” -Jeffrey Epstein

Another thing this email trove has convinced me of is that NYT has been actively and consciously helping Trump since 2015. It wasn't just casual sexism, double standards, and political reporting Kayfabe. They were doing catch and kill

Can we circle back to the part where the NY Times never disclosed that they have incriminating information on Donald Trump from sent by Epstein that's been sitting on their email servers for nearly a decade?
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

This really struck me. If Uber were legally acknowledged as an employer, then it would be the biggest employer in the world, with over 9,000,000 employees globally. Think about how many taxes, wages, and protections are being lost b/c of their intransigence.

When startups talk about "disrupting" things, this is what they mean.

It is crazy that there is no testing or licensing regime for these things, dozens of deaths later. A drug which had such serious mental side effects would have been withdrawn instantly
🚨OpenAI’s new “safer” version of ChatGPT actually allows more harm.

We tested GPT-5 and GPT-4o to see if GPT-5 was safer & found that actually GPT-5 gave MORE harmful responses.

Our leading news organizations turned a cache of ultimately-innocuous emails into a scandal-coded weeklong series of front page stories leading into the 2016 election. If they do not cover the "emails from notorious pedophile implication the President" emails with the same fervor, it's curious!

I’ve seen a few folks go for the “if you simply must watch that new Harry Potter show just pirate it” and sorry. No. Just no. Just don’t watch it. At all. Ever. Break free of it. It’s time. You’ll be ok. I promise. I know it mattered to you as a kid. Find new things, it’s healthier. Just move on.

i think if the democrats had dug in their heels and said "this is the epstein shutdown. trump is starving the country because he doesn't want the epstein files to come out" they probably could have ended him. so it was very kind of them to not do that

I’ve always just kind of assumed private healthcare in the US costs roughly a similar amount to private health insurance here.

People posting their impending price increases shows me I was very, very, very wrong because even the “before” figure is stressing me out

they are able to peel back the ACA because its a shitty half measure but if we had gotten real universal healthcare instead no one would dare touch it because literally everybody on all sides would flip out. one more reason why Democratic incrementalism and "pragmatism" is fucking stupid !!!!!
