it occurred to me, when most people complain 'their taxes went up,' they really mean 'I didn't qualify for the EITC.' And that's likely also the source of any 'refund' they claim to get.

In my experience, no one understands marginal rates or the EITC. Even 'smart' people who should know better.

It's always embarrassing. Like when Andrew Sullivan tried to argue he can take credit for Mozart because he burns easily under the sun.

If my ancestors made it across the plains pulling handcarts, I can make it through this 14-page Gavin Newsom profile in the New Yorker.

I appreciate how 'chud' is going mainstream.

Not inviting Bannon and Ben Shapiro on your podcast to agree with their grift is not a high bar to clear, and yet Newsom tripped on his face

What Israel does so often w/ the organs of Palestinians is so unbelievably crazy that you sound insane just repeating it. Itโ€™s actually quite the cover for bad acts, make them so horrific nobody can believe theyโ€™re even possible. This teacher got fired for repeating what Palestinian doctors say...

We're going to end up with President Tucker Carlson if Democrats attempt to obfuscate Epstein's connections with foreign intelligence as a disagreement among allies.

From the beginning, there's been a huge disconnect between how the public reacted to Trump's election and how media, political, and business elites reacted.

And I don't know what to make of it. It's like powerful people understand something we don't

Nazi Germany wasn't a well oiled machine either, a lot of egotistical graft, incompetence, and petty intraparty rivalry. Still took a WW to stop them.

And here I think immigration is good actually.

But that requires standing against xenophobic demagoguery, which the pundit class abdicated a long time ago, and it's a product of media consolidation.
