I wrote on the UK's reported suspension of some intel sharing with the US on legal grounds. I spoke to several former intel officials & all agreed that they could not think of a comparable case over decades. Some expressed serious concern over retaliation www.economist.com/britain/2025...

I have a vivid memory of walking through the Montgomery Wards appliance section as a kid – walls of TVs all tuned to an obviously fake rubber-suit kaiju film.

Cardboard buildings, suit clearly made of tires, etc.

But since I grew up with ZERO access to media, it gave me nightmares for months. 💀
What fictional creature/villain traumatized you as a kid?

NEW: 2020 footage said to be in 2025. A neighbor who keeps reappearing in the same clip, said to be on different days & months. A broadcast from elsewhere suggested as Portland.

Sitting in the backyard, looking upwards, and wondering about the Aurora tonight.

#Astronoid is the soundtrack, which I am enjoying far more than I thought I would. Blackgaze, clean vocals – 90s dreampop with blast beats. Which one of youse told me about them?

Building out my website with some new #Godzilla merch and discovered that I can now offer hardbound notebooks!

Now I'm wondering what other designs I should try. You know, just to add to my own untouched pile 😅

spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

agreed. it's "the guy who makes you uncomfortable for reasons you won't articulate isn't the future. this guy who looks and talks like you is."
You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.

“Standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She asks ‘What’s the point of standards?’

Unlike you, I can read and that’s why I know what the constitution says.
Trump on Ilhan Omar: "I look at somebody who comes from Somalia...and she comes in and tells us how to run our country. 'The Constitution says this, the Constitution says that.' The whole thing is crazy."

In my ideal world, any Democrat who *ever* utters the words "my friends across the aisle" or otherwise suggests that Republicans are acting in good faith would get an *instant* primary challenger, an avalanche of outraged voter feedback, and a boycott on campaign $$.
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

This is so offensive I don’t even know where to start.

“Vote blue no matter who and also shut the fuck up when those people betray you.”

Nope.

We will primary every senator who doesn’t call for Schumer to step down in the next 24 hours.

You work for us.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.
