Actually what is a plausible communist America timeline? Besides Back in the USSA or Reds, is there any good ones out there?
Someday I'll have the bandwidth to research and write a Communist America AH story that actually gets into just how weird such a country would be instead of "USSR, but America."

Its me. I'm one of those two dozen.
I do find myself wanting to write a Jess Nevins style annotation on Back in the USSA, which is singularly pointless, since I think there are probably two dozen people who own a copy, and no-one's shown any urge to republish it

Old golden age of space exploration commuter and trade station bypassed by newer, more longer-range FTL gates.

Concourses and facilities designed as the height of contemporary luxury a hundred years ago or more now mostly abandoned, lit by flickering lights and the occasional lurching automaton.

For Stirling, probably not. I didn't really enjoy the first book (just more of the same from the author), but for Wild Cards I'd love to do something on that series. Lot of interesting bits of worldbuilding.
@althistorian.bsky.social Hi big fan of your content. Was wondering if there was a possibility of you doing a review on SM Sterling's make darkness light book series and or doing a timeline overview of George RR Martin's wild card series

Erika Kirk is once again facing controversy over alleged text messages between her and a 15-year-old dating back to 2014.

Some have condemned Erika Kirk's actions, using strong terms such as "disgusting" and "criminal." Meanwhile, the mother of two has yet to address the allegations publicly.

This is not an area where AOC agrees with JD Vance and Josh Hawley what the fuck are you talking about
"The Ascent of populist movements is telling us that governments have have strayed too far from being responsive to the working class"

This is probably the only area where AOC agrees with JD Vance and Josh Hawley.

Hating the apostate more than the pagan
The "both sides are bad" crowd are annoying enough, but the "Republicans are more left then the Dems" people are downright wreckers. Like so called anti-imperialists cheering for Russia.

This may also be what I like to call "Texas Derangement Syndrome". This is a misplaced belief that Texas is a secret bastion of progressives and the Dems just need to say the right magic words to manifest Blexas. Meanwhile no amount of polling or chud actions will convince people otherwise.
Look I have my issues with Newsom, but you are certifiably insane if you think trans people have it better under Abbott.

The thing about Casablanca being the greatest film of all time is people don't believe you and then they watch it
You ever stop and think about CASABLANCA? You ever stop and think about "Welcome back to the fight, this time, I know our side will win?" You ever think about a bar full of people defiantly singing La Marseillaise, played by a soundstage full of Jewish refugees? You ever think about CASABLANCA??????

There's a lot that's really wrong about this but the part I hate the most is the embrace of the racialist language of "white culture"
I can assure you that you do not in fact want that.

I've seen the argument that most people don't know what a totenkopf is and thus it's plausible for a guy to think they're just getting a skull tattoo while drunk in Croatia. But even if I'm willing to accept that for an average person, I don't think I can accept that in this specific situation. 1/
Just gonna say there are plenty of insurgent, anti-establishment candidates WITHOUT Nazi tattoos that the New Republic could have featured instead of Platner.

You could ABSOLUTELY make the point that Ds are mad at the centrist leaders of the party WITHOUT helping rehabilitate this particular guy.

Yeah, the Nazi tattoo is part of the appeal for Platner for a lot of people. His candidacy is supposed to signal the left no longer concerns itself with “woke” issues like public displays of bigotry.

Joe Rogan knows he is bad and continues to do it anyway
Joe Rogan profits from his influence but disclaims responsibility for it. “I talk shit for a living,” he said during a stand-up set. “If you’re taking vaccine advice from me, is that really my fault?” And yet he does not hesitate to dispense it. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/7BFkTt
