To be clear: as far as I know I am the first researcher to question Bonny and Read's pregnancies. My work is published in an open-source academic article. Helen Rodriguez, whom I cite, located Read's burial records. This isn't fair use or common knowledge. digitalcommons.usf.edu/cgi/viewcont...

If we are required to show a passport in order to vote, doesn’t that make passport fees an illegal poll tax?

Anyone who had genuine concerns about youth gender medicine would staunchly and wholeheartedly support social transition. Let kids explore their identities to see what works for them!

The fact that this movement opposes even pronouns and haircuts shows that it's just bigotry all the way down.
This draft guidance reproduces Cass insisting that clinicians must be involved in decisions about *social transition* which actually should be none of their damn business

They take the line that this "non-directive" intervention should force things to be "keeping options open and flexible"...

The Trump administration is incarcerating migrant girls in, essentially, a forced pregnancy camp.

Government sources and advocates for the children worry the goal is to concentrate them in Texas, where abortion is banned.

You see, they're sending them to a camp in TX, where abortion is illegal, because "pro-life."

"Some were as young as 13, and at least half of those taken in so far became pregnant as a result of rape... Their pregnancies are considered high risk by definition, particularly for the youngest girls."

AI is not inevitable. If we had sane people in government that were not in thrall to billionaire tech CEOs, LLMs could be regulated, forced to obey existing copyright laws, and banned from places where their use is inappropriate, such as college classes. This should be a moderate position.

Trump's tariffs are the single largest tax hike in the postwar and it was done unilaterally without consent of Congress. Its actually outrageous when you think about it, and conservatives and Republicans just like accept it because yadda yadda daddy Trump. Unreal.

Rhetorial question but how is it ice's job to go after agitators
He literally says in this clip that ICE will keep in Minnesota “quick reaction forces” — a military term — to go after “agitators.” Remember that those on the ground in MPLS have spent more than a week trying to tell everyone that Trump’s prior “deescalation” was a ruse and ICE is still operational
Homan: "Operation Metro Surge is ending. In the next week, we're going to deploy the officers here on detail back to their home stations or to other areas of the country where they're needed."

I never took it but a bunch of my college friends did jiu-jitsu and the first thing they taught you was how to open in any real fight, which was to put up your hands and say “hey man, I don’t want any trouble”
I’m not saying don’t buy a gun or don’t get tactical training. I’d be a huge hypocrite because I’ve done that. The thing I am saying is don’t think doing so makes you John Wick. If you get mugged, give them your phone and wallet. Live to fight another day.

There's an idea about how children learn to read that's held sway in schools for more than a generation — even though it was proven wrong by cognitive scientists decades ago. Teaching methods based on...

"We need to move away from standardized testing"

Standardized testing is good, actually, because it was the one thing my (blue state, active teachers union district) public school couldn't deny when I pointed out that their nonsense reading curriculum was not actually teaching my kid how to read.
This curriculum worked like the Lucy Calkins "Units of Study" and the Fountas & Pinnell curriculum covered in "Sold a Story". My kid was sent home with little paper story books, we read them together all week, and if my kid could recite them by the end of the week he had "learned" it.
