So sometime soon there's going to be a succession crisis in BBC Nature. Will the alpha presenter be Gordon Buchanan or Ranger Hamza?
Or does David Attenborough possess the One Ring?

@fifaclubworldcup.bsky.social Surely you have to rescind the award of the Fifa Peace Prize? How else can such an ancient and honoured trophy retain any respect?

Something I only realized very very late in the day - The Dog Stars by Peter Heller was a Clarke Award finalist.

Wikipedia says a film adaptation by Ridley Scott will be released this summer....

Weird American public domain rules seem to be throwing up a lot of better things than the rest of the world's Life+70. 1956 was a much better year for deaths.

EC is entirely right, I had forgotten to #UKSFFBookBargins the daily deals.

The McEwan he mentions does look SF, though I expect McEwan himself will deny it. Or his PR people will. Looks mainly set in 2119 after rising sea levels have inundated the UK though.
In the dailies, I believe Ian McEwan's What We Can Know is SFnal.

It seems to have been better received than his AI book was a couple of years ago?

Also Katabasis, a Rick Riordan spin-off, a Stephen King, and a witch (I think?) trilogy omnibus.

Do, do we have new #UKSFFFBookBargains or is it still the 12 Days of Kindle? Looks like there's new stuff, so here goes with an Amazon 🧵.

Kobo will follow, but most books will be on both lists.

There is a #UKSFFBookBargains in today's offers, though I'm not super enthused.

Killashandra, which is book 2 of a minor Anne McCaffrey series which I didn't even know existed. And £1.99. I mainly mention it to say something on new year's eve.

Also on Kobo.

I'd been to the comic shop and was walking down Cornmarket in Oxford towards the buses, reading the latest X-Men on the way.
A guy runs at me, with another running after him. The second is John Thaw. I'm assured that I do appear in Inspector Morse, but I don't know which episode.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie
