My reviewing style has changed over time. Rather than litigate every little thing, and pushing my own ideas, I focus only on 2 things:
(1) Are the claims interesting/important?
(2) Does the evidence support the claims?

Most of my reviews these days are short and focused.
The Race and Stratification Working Group at @nber.org will have its annual meeting on Friday, March 27, 2026. Francisca Antman, Bocar Ba, Robynn Cox and I are organizing the program. December 11, 2025 is the deadline to submit your paper!

In a rare win for American parents, New Mexico has officially become the first US state to provide free child care up to age 13 for all families. This is a bit of good news that's worth celebrating and it's an example of what could be possible for us nationwide.

The cost of ACA health insurance is poised to spike for millions of Americans as subsidies expire. This is why democrats in congress want to extend the ACA subsidies.

(AP) — Two federal judges ruled nearly simultaneously on Friday that President Donald Trump’s administration must to continue to fund SNAP, the nation’s biggest food aid program, using contingency funds during the government shutdown.

Reposted by Amy W. Ando

‼️ On SNAP, very significant here:

A federal judge rules that the Trump admin is "required" to spend the $5.5 billion in contingency funds to pay SNAP benefits.

But there will still be a gap in benefits; she gave the admin until Nov. 3 to share if/how they will issue payments.

Facts. We could use the contingency fund to pay for SNAP during the shutdown.
Lots of wrong information coming from the Trump administration on SNAP "running out of money November 1" and the SNAP contingency fund.

The truth is:
1) It *can* be used to cover SNAP benefits during a shutdown.
2) It actually *must* be used to cover SNAP benefits during a shutdown.

Let's dig in.
