One of the most infuriating things about this country is that widely accepted "common sense" decrees that it's only by cutting services you can ever make them better. We are taught from cradle to grave that austerity is equivalent to abundance.
This (from: www.ft.com/content/75ce...) is something you can *feel* if you are in the UK, especially if you've experienced living abroad. But infuriatingly successive governments and our entire media are somehow absolutely committed to suggesting anyone who wants to change this is the devil...

Labour cultists need to drop their purity tests and fall in line behind the Greens to stop Farage. A vote for Labour is effectively a vote for Reform
Macclesfield Central (Cheshire East) Council By-Election Result:

🌍 GRN: 41.8% (+19.7)
🌹 LAB: 28.6% (-25.7)
➡️ RFM: 15.8% (New)
🌳 CON: 9.1% (-4.5)
⚖️ EQU: 2.5% (New)
🔶 LDM: 2.2% (-7.7)

Green GAIN from Labour.
Changes w/ 2023.

So the attempted triangulation on this is going to be:

"yeah, this is the most racist and discriminatory policy possible, but if you criticise it you are actually the racist"

Jesus Christ. I am convinced these cunts would lose a game of tag to a wall.
- It is entirely legitimate for the Home Secretary to highlight the overt racism that she receives for taking part in public life.

- Everybody should oppose that racism against her, whatever their politics.

- But it is important to make several other points about this argument about racism.

Shabana Mahmood casually saying they're gonna take migrant's jewellery off them has got me thinking about that scene in Schindler's List where the Jewish family wrap family heirlooms in bread and swallow them.

What the fuck are we?

As opposed to doing what with their children??

It is a moral imperative to oppose the Labour party, to replace them with something better and to undo all of the harm they have done.

Cruel. Callous. Cowardly.

The public are seeing this Labour government for exactly who they are.

We all have a responsibility to make them pay at the ballot box.

Reject the hate. Reject them.

This is not who we are. Let's make hope normal again.

do not give labour a single vote under any circumstances
The Sun has been told Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will on Monday propose confiscating jewellery, watches, necklaces from asylum seekers to meet asylum costs

This reflects the most controversial aspect of the Danish scheme - the Jewellery Law. The toughest Labour MPs thought this was OTT

What you are witnessing here is an educated professor of political science refusing to countenance the notion that a political party dominated by right-wingers who use right-wing rhetoric and pursue right-wing policies might be doing so because they are right-wing and desire right-wing ends.

This is as bad as anything proposed by Reform.

Leaving refugees in permanent limbo and unable to build a new life in the UK would be a complete abdication of our humanitarian responsibilities

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.
