Caltrans' climate program ignores the biggest polluters to fund the smallest.

Buses produce 2% of transport emissions but get $370K each for electric upgrades in San Diego to replace buses already using compressed natural gas, a relatively clean fuel.
Part of the overall Low Carbon Transit Operation Program, which has funded over 1,500 projects since 2014, Caltrans is awarding $202M for an additional 143 transportation projects - including LA Metro, MUNI in the Bay Area, and San Diego's MTS.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

It's interesting that grade separation in urban contexts was essentially achieved in many cities throughout the developed world by WWII, but by the 1960s the grade separation effort was de facto almost abandoned in North America but continued elsewhere.
On January 21, 1930, Toronto’s high-level viaduct into Union Station was finally put into service.

After years of work and many millions of dollars, the first scheduled trains ran over the new upper-level tracks into the station.

my entire adult life i have seen protests in the US be either ridiculed, downplayed or just ignored by our news media and i guess it's an international phenomena

unfortunately the most effective propaganda is when you don't realize its propaganda
The idea that there are no protests in the US and no one is standing up to Trump is proving incredibly hard to kill over here in Germany. It’s become dogma, utterly detached from empirical reality.

I wonder if the people who keep talking like that understand they’re perpetuating regime propaganda.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

We'll see, but I don't think the apparent TACO on Greenland will last long. It's just another case of "last person he talked to," and that won't be the Europeans once he's back at the West Wing / Mar-a-Lago. For their own anti-NATO reasons, too many in the inner circle are determined to push this.
