In lighter/stupider news, I finally found enough trophies to stop the Riddler in Batman: Arkham City. They made him so irritating, it's a pleasure to find him and kick his ass.

I mean, the Scarlet Letter is already thirsty as hell...
Frankenstein was a commercial hit. “Wuthering Heights” is going to be a hit. Maybe the studios should look at classic literature adaptations as one way to get young people going to the movies. Woke 2.0 adaptations of Melville and Hawthorne. It’d work

Rep. Delia Ramirez to DHS officials: "I have as much respect for you as I do for the last white men who put on masks to terrorize communities of color. I have no respect for the inheritors of the Klanhood and the slave patrol. Those activities were criminal and so are yours."

Standard Rule of Thumb: After visiting Epstein Island, do a head count to ensure you didn't leave any of your kids behind with Epstein.
VAN HOLLEN: Did you in fact make the visit to Epstein's private island?

LUTNICK: I did have lunch w/ him as I was on a boat going across on a family vacation. My wife was with me as were my 4 children and nannies. We had lunch on the island. That's true. For an hour. We left with all of my children

A curious aspect of American fascism is believing you can be as hateful and spiteful as you wish, but under no circumstances can anyone call you on it.

You do not, under any circumstances, "gotta hand it to" history's fascists, but few of them were sissies about the contempt heaped on them.
House Oversight hearing on ICE opens with the rules:

"It is also a clear violation of the rules of the House to make statements that might personally be offensive to the President or the Vice President of the United States."

I've shared this before, but one of the more dismal things I ever heard while working in the corporate world was from a new manager of whatever at her introductory meeting. After she spoke, the floor was open to questions. I recall asking her what she was reading lately. A softball question...

I have yet to see any evidence that there is a market for AI-generated books outside of people being tricked into thinking they are not AI-generated books. AKA, it is a project of scamming and deceiving people, and really should be treated as fraud

You know, the real ball-busting part of this is that we've reached the point where we're being told both (1) AI is taking over all writing and (2) no one reads anymore, and books are being phased out.
fuck this lady, fuck the nyt reporter, fuck all of this. fuck amazon for introducing the KU page read model that makes this possible, fuck our tech overlords.
