If/when the Kennedy Center reopens it’ll be a Trump branded convention center. It’ll have sports memorabilia shows and the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular and things like that

JK Rowling thinks Lolita is a tragic love story. Elon Musk thinks hiring a Black actor to play Helen of Troy is “an insult to the author”. Will someone please sign these clowns up for English 101

Watching the Mel Brooks doc and it keeps up with that whole “you could never make Blazing Saddles today” thing and it always comes down to giving white people the freedom to laugh at the n word.

Netflix picked up a Pete Davidson "video podcast" which isn't really a podcast as it doesn't have an RSS audio portion. Hmm... This got me wondering about the deals.

Check out my full piece analyzing this trend & how it could hurt writers/actors/crews. writingandwhatnot.com/blog/podcasts
Podcasts Without Union Protection — Writing and Whatnot
Are streamers like Netflix and Amazon are rebranding talk shows as "podcasts" to avoid union contracts? Which celebrities will get caught in this labor loophole? Let's dig into it...

The Kennedy Center is dead. If it ever gets rebuilt it’s going to be called The Trump Center

John Lithgow is fine with Rowling’s rabid transphobia so what does he have to say about Rowling cozying up to Jeffrey Epstein and his sordid crew?
2008: Epstein is convicted of procuring a minor for prostitution

2018: Despite that conviction, [files indicate] he was invited by Rowling’s team - along with a guest of his choosing - to the Broadway opening of Harry Potter and the private after-party

Protecting women and children, is it?
JK Rowling's team invited Jeffery Epstein to the deathly hallows play and to a Harry potter dinner.

Nothing to see here. Just JK Rowling calling Lolita “a tragic love story”.

One of the most popular novelists on the planet and she doesn’t understand the concept of the unreliable narrator ffs
How shocking.

We’re groaning at the box office success of Melania but it’s another example of how theaters are going to survive in the future, by booking movies that appeal to a targeted niche audience who’ll show up. Anime, Bollywood, right wing documentaries, etc. Theaters won’t survive with just event releases

So Gimme Shelter shows up in the Melania doc. The Rolling Stones don’t own the song so they’ve got no say one way or the other. The song belongs to ABKCO, Allen Klein’s company, the crooked businessman you see Glyn Johns warning John Lennon about in Get Back.

CBS News, it gave us Murrow, Cronkite and 60 Minutes, and now Bari Weiss is turning it into a safe haven for Jeffrey Epstein’s buddies
1. The new batch of Epstein documents helps illuminate one contemporary controversy: What is Bari Weiss up to at CBS? I think the answer is she is trying to rehabilate the Epstein network as a bulwark of reactionary centrism. Let me explain.

I’m old enough to remember how anyone who posted on Twitter about Barron Trump being tall was accused of invading a child’s privacy
“Melania” the movie is almost aggressively uninsightful. We learn that the first lady’s “favorite recording artist” is Michael Jackson. The audience is repeatedly informed that Barron, who barely says a single audible word in front of the cameras, is tall. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/triumph...
