Still thinking about this. She's being sworn in tomorrow.
So, when Congress is back in session and Adelita Grijalva has to be sworn in and casts the deciding vote to release the Epstein files and so forth, y'all are going to suddenly forget how Durbin and the rest "caved" to get things moving again, aren't you?

Interesting event happening at @secretworldbooks.bsky.social tomorrow night: Judy Montagu was a aristocratic British lady who crossed America by Greyhound, rode in a rodeo, and had an affair with Adlai Stevenson.

If I was in Congress, I’d just use the magic button they’re all given that makes everyone do what you say and changes reality. That’s what I’d do.

A lot more early John Waters than I would’ve expected, especially “Hag in a Black Leather Jacket.”

We are being overseen by middle managers who don't understand why we don't want to work harder for less pay and come into work on our days off...because we're all "family."
Sean Duffy threatens "action" against air traffic controllers who didn't come to work during the shutdown: "I'm concerned about their patriotism."

Sherlock Holmes "died" in 1893, then Arthur Conan Doyle was convinced to bring him back, and nobody said, "But...but...HOW can a fictional character...RETURN FROM THE DEAD?" That's part of the fun of fiction, folks.

IIRC, Casino Royale, the satire, suggested "James Bond" is a code name used by different agents over the years, hence Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, Craig, etc...
How many missions did Bond go on? Dozens? Hundreds? There is no reason the next film has to follow the previous one chronologically just because the last few did.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

The most fucked-up mentality involves trying to find a way to say how your opponent has succeeded even when they fail.

I stand by my belief they're just pissed no one really tried to attack them, so they could get even deadlier weapons. I can't wait for that Saltine to fall on his ass.

Fifty years ago, the good ship Edmund Fitzgerald went down with all hands. It’s one of my bigger obsessions. Here’s an article I wrote long ago during my zine years. Excuse the callow writing of my youth.
