Metro Construction Committee meeting just underway. [I am in the room - usually I follow these meetings remotely - I was already downtown and my HLA business finished up so I figured I would pop in]

Board of Public Works: we may not know the name of the street, but we know it doesn’t get walk/bike/bus improvements [these should be “Witmer” St. and Vermont “Avenue”]

Today @lataco.bsky.social launched a fundraiser to help me start their investigative news desk. We're hoping to raise $25k to help pay for lab tests, analyze ICE data that the Daily Memo's been compiling + work with more freelancers. Been dreaming of this for years!

My latest look at so-called " #largeasphaltrepair " ...what a mess. The city is leaving cracked/failed asphalt strips in order to not comply with ADA or HLA laws.

Santa Monica is upgrading Broadway bike lanes - concrete curb protection on the way. Construction now from 4th to 9th. (Will extend to 26th)

My lawsuit against LACity over #MeasureHLA will be in court next week: Wed Feb 18. But it won't be the big part of my case. There are 3 things I am contesting. Next week is a smaller wonky administrative chunk: asking the judge to nix the city's HLA ordinance. labikas.wordpress.com/2025/10/22/m...
Measure HLA Lawsuit Update – 22 October 2025
This week I, via my lawyers, filed a Motion for Summary Adjudication (see motion and statement of facts). Basically I am asking a judge to invalidate the city of L.A.’s Measure HLA ordinance.…

In her State of the City Part I, Mayor Karen Bass recognized Juan Naula, whose community cleanups have gone viral.

I called him up to get his ideas for how to address LA’s trash crisis and and he was not pleased with the mayor’s plan to clean the city with volunteers
