They're building concentration camps with my tax money Chuck. They're torturing children. They're murdering innocent people on the street. What are you doing.
Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.

We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking.

I just never, ever get over thinking: Which is easier, figuring out how to live on the moon, or figuring out how to make it so we can continue living on earth? If you’re truly a visionary, why not do the second one?

I need a quick explainer article about why "that Ring ad about how it can be used to find lost dogs is horrible, actually" to share with my not-as-online family on FB.

Another resistance quilt finished this week. The eye is my own design, the letters are a fpp pattern by QuiltByNight, the rounded corners and black binding are meant to resemble the phones we the people are using to document the horrors and disprove the government’s lies about what they are doing.

I know a lot of thought goes into Olympic figure skating outfits. But. This poor woman's boobs look like the eyes of a pink chameleon. It's all I can see. I keep expecting them to rotate independently of one another to triangulate the distance to the judges.

ran into a friend at a cafe who mentioned his wife is having an emotional affair with chatgpt, missed that the "chat model was much hornier last spring," and that they're getting divorced but her chat & his chat negotiated the terms of the divorce over several weeks. They were together for 18 yrs.
most cafe conversations blend into the background for me, but as soon as a man starts the “do you use ChatGPT? I’ve started using it for…” conversation within a 10 table radius, I feel my brain short circuiting

Re: the backlash to "craftivism."

Stickering is cool and punk and floods the environment with our messaging.

The hats are not "performative"-- they're doing the same thing! But graffiti is seen as more male, knitting more female, and there you go.

Stupid gender ruining the party for all of us.
It's sexist too, I suspect, because knitting is such gendered work.

I understand why they're using drones for the skiing events. The shots are cool! But I sure wish the drones weren't so damn loud. It's bad enough that I end up having to watch on mute after a few runs because it just scrapes my brain so much.

“Hold me closer Tony Danza” is a long running joke, because we do not understand the lyrics to half of the *English language* songs we send up the charts.
I keep thinking about when Nena released “99 Luftballons” in German, it was such a colossal hit in the U.S., and other Anglophone countries, that she released an English version the next year, and that version didn’t do nearly as well.

But you're on Substack. So I'm not going anywhere near it.

A reminder that doxxing comes in many forms. Most often it results in online harrassment (spamming DMs, threatening posts). Sometimes they try to get people fired.

It rarely does it result in someone showing up to your house, but it can happen.

Okay so a thing I LOVED about that is how, whereas so many halftime shows kind of elevate the star above the other dancers/extras—often literally—that was like the exact opposite, he was *with and among* the people around him

I would buy this stuff. If Roots or Canadian Tire got into the game they'd get so much of my money. My old Hudson's Bay Olympics hoodie will need replacing eventually but I'll never spend a dime on Lululemon gear.
