New from 404 Media: people are 3D-printing whistles to warn each other about the presence of ICE. Some people make designs and upload them; others are given a design and are printing hundreds and hundreds of whistles at home. It's been effective in Chicago

The Latest Defense Against ICE: 3D-Printed Whistles
Chicagoans are making, sharing, and printing designs for whistles that can warn people when ICE is in the area. The goal is to “prevent as many people from being kidnapped as possible.”

🐀Male and female rats like to be tickled differently - males prefer rougher play.
🤣How do we know? Rats produce ultrasonic giggles that can be monitored with a bat detector.
🧪Why is this relevant? To improve lab animal welfare.

Ah, to tickle rats for a living...♥️

Last few days for funding “Go Computer Now!”, a book about the nearly forgotten, pioneering Utah computer firm Sphere (1975–1977) that you likely *never heard about*. (I edited the book.) Help us get over the last hump at www.kickstarter.com/projects/bzo... @bzotto.bsky.social

Shot in the dark: Wally’s favorite toy got disemboweled by a dog friend while I was out of town, and they don’t seem to make this anymore. Does anybody have a Zippy Paws corgi that their dog doesn’t care about that you’d be willing to rehome?

This is why I genuinely do not understand journalists who do not use it. You want LESS people reading your stuff? Isn't that the opposite of what you want, why wouldn't you just add alt text to all your stuff so it's accessible to more people.
Aside from other reasons to add alt text, they also help search for images.

If your search terms are in the alt text, but not the main text, the post still comes up in the results on Bluesky.

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

My biggest tip for coloring is think of it like an equation:

Decide your most important factors, what limits that, what draws attention to that, then build everything else around that.

For instance: This object is the most important and must be orange.
