Good story on the records of those taken during the Chicago raids. Contrary to the administration's claims, few had records or reasons to be arrested.

I know it's not surprising to many of us, but it's important that this type of in depth reporting is done so it's on the record.

I'm delighted it made ChatGPT and X impossible to use, honestly.

The fact that I can't get much work done because it's also affecting things I need? That's just extra.

What’s significant about this is that it’s in People Magazine, which a lot of people who are not online all the time read
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

You know a meeting was bad when other attendees text you afterwards to make sure you're ok. All the yikes.
Know what's super cool? People in positions of authority who interpret questions as attacks. And who get rude and defensive about it.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper cool.

It's going to be a long few years.

That feeling when you walk into a room and can't remember why you're there? I'm feeling that about this entire day.

Am I supposed to be doing something? How exactly am I supposed to use this sense of vague urgency? Why is it Monday? Is it *supposed* to be Monday?

Anyone who works adjacent to clinical microbiology knows how quickly the resistance problem has gotten worse. We really need new antimicrobial drugs. (And better antimicrobial stewardship but that's another rant)
If you ask historians of medicine what keeps them up at night, many will not say a new plague or bioterrorism, they will answer, "antibiotic resistance."

Please stop doing this. Please stop replying to shitposts and jokes and interesting thoughts and observations about film or whatever with pictures of trump or rfk or reminders of how bad things are. It really, really sucks and doesn't help anything. We are just trying to hang out.
We have long been at the "every reply will try to make your post about trump" phase and it stinks.

The sun’s just doing a normal solar cycle like usual. We just now have cameras in our pocket that can detect aurora, and social media to spread the word to get out looking!

I am moving out of state and have an outdoor cat who is very skittish that I simply can’t take on a plane without risking life and limb. Would anyone in PDX like to adopt a moody gray lady? She could be fine inside a home with no other cats, she doesn’t tolerate them (hence outside). DM if so.

If you've got kids in school, support the PTA. Schools are struggling, y'all.

Even if you don't have kids in school you can be involved. Look up your neighborhood schools, donate to their PTAs. Ask neighbors with kids to keep you informed about fundraiser events like restaurant nights. It helps.

Accent discrimination is discrimination and it doesn’t matter who it’s aimed at. I’m always saddened at how people who would never say “I hate people from X country” are very happy to say “those people don’t speak good English”. It’s part of the same picture, but wow, no one wants to hear it.
