Why folding hurts your argument for the midterms, part 3408:

BEST CASE scenario you retake House and Senate. You pass what you want and Trump vetoes. And then you're in the same spot as you are right now, a fight-or-flight choice. You're telling us right now how that will go.

I feel like the Trump administration asking for the SNAP money back is just a slogan writing contest for democratic governors to see who can go the hardest in their responses.

Earlier in the week they told grocery stores they couldn't offer discounts to people who didn't get their SNAP dollars.

There's side effects of the shutdown and then there's trying everything you can outside of your purview to make it maximally painful for the most vulnerable.
Breaking news: The Trump administration over the weekend ordered states to stop distributing full food assistance benefits for November to the 42 million low-income Americans risking food insecurity.

They panic about fertility rates, say families need to be having more children, then they starve the kids and ensure health insurance is impossible to afford. Plus all the other things that would dissuade people from having kids: houses impossible to buy, diminishing middle class, ICE everywhere.
Breaking News: The Trump administration told states to undo any steps to provide full food stamp benefits to low-income families, threatening financial penalties if the states do not comply. It was unclear how that would affect the program.

i think about this way too much - how tech companies act vs. “legacy” companies that produce consumer goods, news, media or entertainment.
Six people died from tampered Tylenol and the company pulled 30 million bottles off the market. ChatGPT is accused of urging seven people towards suicide, and OpenAI just assures us they’re still working out the kinks. Billions in investment, zero accountability.

at a basic level a huge amount of the actions of the federal govt amount to shitposting channeled through executive power. sounds like a snark. it’s not. it’s the language and impulse these people know. a mixed of bad humor and aggression driven by impulse.
NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...

Took it easy the first two weeks after the half marathon but got back to building out a stronger base. Aiming for 25 miles a week through the winter but we’ll see how the weather behaves. Did 22 miles this week after logging 10 today. Beautiful fall day for a run, 54 with no wind and lots of color.

Lord, the last thing I want to do in a store is be forced to have a conversation.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.

OVER A MILLION USERS

DISCUSS SUICIDE WITH CHATGPT

EVERY *WEEK*

what the fuck are we DOING here
Panera’s moderately caffeinated lemonade was loosely associated with 2 deaths before it was taken off market.

This article alone has 4 examples of ChatGPT encouraging young people to commit suicide, and OpenAI’s own public stats estimate over a million users discuss suicide with ChatGPT each week.
I fully believe in the corporate death penalty and believe we would be a better world if OpenAI lost its corporate charter and was forcibly dissolved.
