For the AM crowd, I wrote about a human-centered technology course I teach at Lehigh. The class focuses on finding your purpose in a time of automation and AI, and it's probably the most important class I teach nowadays.
Teaching the soul of AI
There’s a sentence I’ve been staring at all week in a student’s final paper:

Oof. I think I remember Crawford being pretty good for me that year but that whole deal was a lot of heat with no light.

You laugh now but next semester we will be overrun with Bradgleys in our classes.

Stopping for now. I have a lot more to open. Ended up doing five pack and got zero Dodgers, AS IT SHOULD BE.
February 12, 2026 at 12:54 AM
lol who the hell is that?

Topps never ceases to amaze me. I follow young players really closely and they still pull these guys from an AI name generator.

Yes and then I cut him and then redrafted him an embarrassing amount of times.

Finally, this is one of the special insert cards. Griffey Jr remarking on PCA. “Reminds me of myself.” Well ok then!

Another parallel foil. Is it gold? Is it bronze? Burnt sienna? The holos come in like 8 different border color variants.

A traditional unlike any other: Topps All-Star Rookies that I’ve never heard of. When I was a kid these were crazy good trade bait for ripping of younger neighborhood kids. “OOOOH THERE IS A TROPHY HE IS VERY GOOD.” I should have been a hedge fund manager.

Luger joke context. I am very funny. Must credit me.
Every men’s luge competitor’s body/neck game makes them look like a prototypical Phillies outfielder. Just incredible meathead game, well done all around.

This is one of those alternative versions Topps does as an insert. Retro design and retro card back featuring MLB’s foremost luger.

I got a lot of White Sox cards. I sense the work of the Pope. But Montgomery’s a nice pull. Good debut last season, probably(?) unsustainable peripheral numbers but who knows. Hope, spring, etc.

I do love the holos, and have a fantasy baseball soft spot for Alejandro Kirk. So this one is a keeper.

SPEAKING OF Patrick Bailey, he gave us the best MLB highlight last season.

I love the Giants CC jerseys. May buy one this year. Hope springs eternal.
February 12, 2026 at 12:31 AM
Giants!
February 12, 2026 at 12:31 AM
This is the first card I actually got. @medialawprof.bsky.social immediately offered me the entire Rangers minor league system for it (I turned it down).
February 12, 2026 at 12:30 AM
My new favorite kind of card is the ones that have City Connect jerseys. The Sox have some of my favorite ones. Small sample
size but it seems like there are more cards featuring CC jerseys this year.

Fist the special pack in the hobby box. Usually plastic holo cards. Fun one here, got Devers and a Yount throwback.
February 12, 2026 at 12:26 AM
Allright allright allright let’s open a few of these bad boys
February 12, 2026 at 12:26 AM
I would buy the heck out of a Sea Lions jersey.
I'd love to see the Padres, Giants, and Dodgers do the same to honor their WCNBA teams.

I *think* the Steelheads went 12-13 (tied for second place) in the WCNBA's only season. But I might be missing a game, as I'm still trying to confirm that a couple of advertised games were not actually played.
Mariners announce the Sunday alternates will be Steelheads jerseys this season….unveiling with Josh Naylor

I suspect in the end this stupid kind of news coverage hurts the news outlet more than Elon. He's a bullshitter; it is known. But when his claims are parroted unseriously by news orgs you kind of have to wonder how naive the reporter is.
February 11, 2026 at 11:53 PM
I want eat fatty foods and red meat all day and live to be 140.
February 11, 2026 at 11:46 PM
It is not news if Elon says he wants to do something anymore than it is if I do it. Having billions of dollars* doesn't turn the dude into a magician able to snap into existence the necessary technologies to build a moon base that -- and I cannot stress this enough -- are not close to existing.
February 11, 2026 at 11:46 PM
There are others who've documented this way better than I, but it doesn't take much googling to know that Elon has a long, long history of promising moonshots that never materialize. Flying cars, humans on Mars, millions of robot butlers ... uh, free speech .... 😂

One of the worst side effects of the Steve Jobs presentation style is that showbiz style reveals are treated the same as things like, I don't know, investment that leads to tangible progress on a goal. The CEO aesthetic is just to get up and make crazy pronouncements to a fawning press.
insane to be reporting this stuff with a straight face. like what are we doing here man
