Here to hang out and chat about life, my hobbies and my cats! I am owned by two Maine Coons, Prospero (Perry) and Artemis (Misty). I love #pottery, dabble in embroidery, am interested in the world, and obsess over US/UK politics more than is good for me

The news feeds are grim, so have a story about Joseph and Eglantine. They met at a village dance in the #Vendée just two months before war broke out in 1914. She was 16, he 21. They wrote over 800 letters to each other while he served. Married in 1919. 10 kids. Lived happily ever after.

I love that Prince Andrew had a codename email address to avoid suspicion and all the emails are like 'Had to spend the weekend at Balmoral, Mother wants me to look after the corgis, my brother's here too - not Edward, but Charles, you know the heir apparent.'

"Oh, yeah, if you cut a branch of an orange tree and put a lemon seed in it, that branch will grow lemons."

Be serious. How would that even work. And then:

Former Texas Lege reporter here. A Dem hasn't held this seat since 1990. Tarrant is the safest of red suburban counties. There is no way the TX and national GOP aren't in panic mode right now.
JUST IN: Democrats flip a red seat in the Texas Senate.

Taylor Rehmet wins against Leigh Wambsganss, a conservative activist who helped lead right-wing efforts to take over TX school boards.

With all early vote, and 95% of precincts, in, Dem up 57/43.

Trump won this seat by 17% in Tarrant County.

Judge Biery signed the order with a photo of Liam and two bible verses: The first is "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The second is simply "Jesus wept."

Astonishing thing for a judge to do.

Ooo ooo another one!

Box cakes.

I feel like Millennial nostalgia has really led to some damaged taste buds and we have idiots online saying things like "You actually can't tell the difference."

Box cakes have the structure of upholstery foam. They're fine for a quickie but stop being silly.
Guys, I really need to talk about something dumb and meaningless. What's a universally beloved sweet treat that you think is just mid? For me, it's meringue.

So, let's get this straight. Christopher "Moot" Poole created 4chan as a gathering place for hentai and CSAM enthusiasts, started /pol/ the day he met with Jeffrey Epstein, then /pol/ memed Trump to the presidency and birthed Qanon, a conspiracy theory in which Trump is a good person who hates CSAM.

so a LOT of what's been released are anonymous reports and with a case this famous you are gonna get some nuts sending in nonsense. but the repeated references to Robin Leach, Trump and Epstein at the Rancho Palos Verdes golf club make it pretty clear a bunch went on there involving those people.
Did the DOJ really just oopsie "Robin Leach strangled a child at a sex party attended to by multiple Presidents" then redact the whole page or am I becoming Qanon

If you are confused by the Mangione news I maybe managed to have puzzled it out.

Basically comes down to the Feds trying some shit and not getting away with it.
Ok thank you to folks in my replies it seems: the Feds tried to invent a federal murder charge by tying it to cross-state stalking. But the murder only occurred in one state. So there’s no case for federal murder charges. So the judge was like “nice try no cigar”.

They also do not even have the institutional backing to successfully prosecute their chosen examples. Remember that Sandwich guy was acquitted.
Let me reiterate: THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH GUYS TO PERSECUTE LARGE NUMBERS OF DISSENTERS. What they are doing, instead, is using fear and paranoia as a force multiplier: they don’t have to persecute us if we keep ourselves home because someone told us we can’t walk in public without being terrified.

Okay, it took me three days to finally do this, BUT!

You can buy whistles from us now!

I stress again that getting the whistles free is the OBVIOUS OPTION but some folks want 1-5 Kit Rocha whistles instead of 100 whistles, or to support us. So. OK!

Trump's IRS lawsuit is demanding $10 billion from taxpayers.

$10 billion would pay for 4 months of ACA tax credits for millions who can't afford health care—because of him.

In Trump's ideal world, you make him richer.

While he makes you sicker and poorer.
