Here to hang out and chat about life, my hobbies and my cats! I am owned by two Maine Coons, Prospero (Perry) and Artemis (Misty). I love #pottery, dabble in fountain pens, am interested in the world, and obsess over US/UK politics more than is good for me

For a lot of of us, esp Gen Xers, there was a period of time when digital photography was a thing, but before the iPhone was widely available. Some of us had pretty fancy digital cameras and took a lot of pictures.

If the DEA had killed 80 innocent Americans in the course of apprehending one drug dealer, there would be riots. But we are so ghoulishly indifferent to the lives and humanity of people abroad that it's barely even part of the conversation.
A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

the terrible thing is, there's even odds trump will do something in the next few days or weeks that totally knocks venezuela out of the news

and it's *not* a deliberate cycle of distraction, it's just relentless chaos

I really liked Kings Quest 7 - a point and click game where you explored a world, solved puzzles and enjoyed yourself. Female protagonists. I wish they still made games like this, I’d buy them for my iPad, and relax with them. Awakening was the last series like this I know of!
What’s your favorite video game that’s at least 27 years old (so 1999 or earlier)? Let’s get a list of classics going.

Do more of what makes you smile. Tell people when you like things—what you like about them. Be direct. Be curious.

I started out at 9 this morning to get as much done as possible and now I have crashed. Shame there is still so much of the day to go. There is no me left to day with.

Casey did basic due diligence here, and it's depressing (and not even a little surprising) how many people wrote takes/stories on the post without doing that.
I reached out to the author of this viral Reddit post thinking there might be a story in it. He sent me an employee badge that Gemini flagged as being AI-generated and supporting documents that I suspect were also generated by AI. Be careful out there folks!

you can't understand what needs to be fixed if you don't get that we've been barking up the wrong trees and poisoning our minds for decades. these places are bad for us. they are bad for the world. you should view what we do here as slightly less responsible than shooting up heroin.

This arrived today. It's a little booklet from the Polish government wth advice about how to prepare for it All Kicking Off, and what to do when it does.
