Just the other week I made a pair of teenage twins very happy by giving them each a Staedtler sketching set and a nice sketchbook. Simple, high quality, and room for them to express themselves.

Sunday night’s asda meal deal had the onion bhaji snack, which was very yummy even if it would have been better warm. Plus the eternal plowman’s (still tasty!) and water. Not bad for £3.74

Saturday night’s asda meal deal went back to basics with the carrots and hummus snack (there is less hummus but it tastes better), Evian for drink (chosen because the bottle was the largest) and of course the cheddar plowman’s. I’m a picky vegetarian and it’s the only main I think I’d like.

Friday night’s asda meal deal dinner, was the same sandwich for my main (the cheddar plowman’s is tasty) with a fancy fruit smoothie as drink, and a disappointing pretzel and hummus dip pack for snack (the hummus didn’t have enough lemon).

I’m spending a week staying at a premier inn (clean, plain, comfy) and eating an asda meal deal for dinner each night, because it’s the best of my options. So I’ve been entertaining myself by photographing them. Thursday night was plain and decent. Not thrilling, not bad.

I’m feeling so pleased with this Christmas tree I made at the #pottery. Now I just have to find a candle to put inside so I can see how well it lights up, I poked it with so many holes. Bmix clay, cone 6, glazed with a dip in spearmint then painted with three coats of oribe to get a mottled look.

Really happy with this rounded square mug I made at the #pottery. It’s handbuilt, and so much fun to texture! My favorite mug template to play with. It goes really well with a celadon glaze.

I spent the week at a residential craft school learning glassblowing and it was INCREDIBLY fun and INCREDIBLY exhausting. It’s nice just to rest today! Glassblowing is my idea of a great team sport, I wish I could afford to do it regularly.

Today’s challenge is learning how to read a manga. I’m determined not to succumb to fifty-something “it used to be all fields around here”, but even after looking up a guide to panel order I’m struggling to train myself to look in the right place for the next panel.
