OMG THEY'RE SO TINY!!!!!!!! INCREDIBLE!!!
The second #kakapo chick of the #kakapo2026 breeding season hatched this morning: Hine Taumai-A1-2026 on Ako's nest on Te Kākahu. We transferred the egg from Anchor two nights ago. This is Ako's first-ever chick, which is just a few hours old in this video. #conservation #birds #parrots

Read this and notice how many high powered Dems are all aligned with the high powered corruption, and then tell me again why if we don't vote for them we're voting for fascism or imposing some unattainable "purity" standard

Eat the rich and powerful, both flavors

This stuff drives me crazy. Of course Bessent would have been as flippant, he's proven himself time and again a soulless, lying sycophant to Trump
Anyone who puts a "Perhaps" in there is doing damage to the truth!
Seems small, doesn't it? It's not, we need to support those who speak truth to power
“.. Perhaps Bessent wouldn’t have been so flippant if the testimony had come after the flood of data last week, which laid bare the challenges facing ordinary Americans ..”

Says the man who turned a blind eye to torture, murdered an American citizen with the military and bailed out banks and kept money to help underwater citizens unspent

He is articulate and persuasive. I voted for him twice, but he has no moral standing

(Why did he give telecoms immunity?)

@eschatonblog.com nails it again

I heard the same thing last week on NPR's reporting on Iran, which they consistently called a "regime" while airing Trump's lies as "government" official stances

Our political, business, education and media ecosystems are all pro-right wing
Wish I knew that sooner

I joined the Dem party to help elect Obama, then worked to try and elect Bernie (ended up voting for Hillary)

I really don't want to vote for someone who supports US genocide... call me a one issue voter, a purist

What's my move this election?
February 17, 2026 at 12:39 PM
Hahahahahahaha - defeating MAGA to continue a future of transferring wealth to the wealthy and the impunity of the rich and powerful from the law is not democracy

I joined during Obama, had high hopes, but he gave money to banks and not people and calls torturer Bush a friend

I'm out
If you're a Democrat and you don't vote for the Dem, you are helping MAGA.

I don't care if the Democrat up for election is not your fantasy candidate. Or if you want to hold your stupid moral high ground by sitting it out or voting 3rd party. Stop it!

We are fighting to save democracy.

Wilhoit's law holds up, no matter what clothes you dress it up in
Yarvin’s schtick is warmed over and dumbed down McCarthyism articulated in the faux intellectualism of a Dennis Miller, packaged for an audience of billionaires who think they’re smarter than Mike Lindell but they’re not. bsky.app/profile/seth...
This bananapants Yarvin tweet is a perfect example of why it's more useful to think of the US right as a movement defined by emotions and imagination, more than it is a movement defined by anything we could reasonably call "ideas." Yarvin is a first-rate reactionary fabulist, and a 7th rate thinker.

Same here - and sometimes to poke someone to see if they're real
I mostly argue online to figure out what my own opinion is
The secret to engaging in social media debate is knowing you will never win anyone over. The best you can hope for is to have people who already agree with tell you you're awesome. You might great a dopamine thrill from the righteousness of your anger! Fine benefits, all. But you will never win.

I'm trying to game out whether it's better in the long term to vote for some establishment Dem (Gavin) and will try and restore what the Reps killed, look forward kind of guy - or NOT vote, let Republicans continue to win and sink the country until a real revolution can occur

"The culture I grew up in is the one true, correct, natural culture - natural and blessed by the my god, the on true, correct god. The culture you grew up in is weird to me and therefore incorrect, unnatural and false"

Many folks never outgrow their childhood...
"Correct natural trajectory"!

Transphobes believe in teleology, confirmed a million times over. It's a basically pre-modern worldview that gets a lot of cover from the fact that it accords with our erroneous common-sense.

The scientific-world-conception is pro-trans, pre-modern mysticism is TERF.
"if they socially transition too early we think they can get locked onto a trajectory that may not have been the correct natural trajectory for them"

Direct quote.

I always hate the, "that's not how this works" line because, unless you have a way to stop it, it's often exactly how it will end up working
Goldman: "Republicans have created distrust of our electoral system -- not based on evidence -- and then they're gonna say, 'Oh, we have to solve this mistrust we've created.' No. That's not how it works."

I would pay pretty much any sum of money for boring stuff like OCBDs and herringbone tweeds that burn out smart glasses.
if someone can come up with working adversarial garment that fucks with smart glasses, to almost any extent, I will not only buy it myself but promote it religiously

ideally something that does lasting damage, but even compromising certain functions is better than nothing

who is working on this??

Loyal cult member, Sean.
I've got all your albums...

(I might not know the proper meaning of "cult")

Also - did you see they've detected the effects of pre-real particles at LHC? Can't wait for your explanation on the next podcast

Holy moly: Seattle’s millionaire tax, passed last year, is expected to bring in $115 million in its 1st year, way more than the $50 million anticipated.

The funds will go to the city’s new social housing developer publicola.com/2026/02/11/t...

(Is NY Gov Hochul paying attention?)
Seattle’s millionaire tax is a huge success. Here is how grassroots groups beat big money and are now raising tons of money for mixed income, rent stabilized housing. (We call it “social housing.”)

The follow up needs to be "And you think these things are related to the color of a person's skin. The ability to be a military person is inherently in white people but not in black or other color people"

Make them say it! Or force them to state Black people are just as good (win either way)
